Will birds trapped in cages fed with enough seeds become pets eventually?

I find the whole giving birds seeds mechanic kind of odd with no reward for it atm, though I love it regardless since making my bird hat I seem to be in a seemingly endless supply of them, was saddened after feeding my first caged bird, a crow quite a number of seeds hoping he'd get tamed after enough and I could free him and he'd follow me around as a pet. Boy was I disappointed .

Here's hoping for actual pet birds gotten from the cages, unless they actually die in the cage if you DON'T feed it.

I actually really enjoy the idea of taming birds. Another semi-related suggestion is that crows should only be trapable if you bait with corn and not seeds. I say this because the crow feathers are a primary ingredient in a fairly overpowered sleep dart.
