How to convert/open old animation and .tex files?

 I want to make use of some unused animations and tex's but krane,ktech,textools can't open them. I tried downloading numerous old updates and it still doesn't work. And it's weird it doesn't work because I remember using TEXtools or something else on an old update to inspect slurtle (before it was added officialy), boat_sunk etc. animation files around the time Matt first released his tools. And I know it's possible to open them because some of them appear on the wiki, and I would download the build I used before but unfortunately the archived oldforum didn't back-up attachments. What do?
