I completely agree that the Pausing system might possibly lead to abuse or annoyance of other players. but as roothorick said, you can pause in single player to think about your options. Why shouldnt you be able to do that in multiplayer? I expect there to be a higher difficulty with more players on a server (Hounds multiplied by playernumber? Hounds spawn for every player? more Deerclops?) About the joining when its night thing - I hope that you wont have to wait outside of the server until its day because this could mean that you just leave the server at nightfall and come back at daybreak.
