Don't starve Thirst system.

Recommended Posts

I do agree thist can be problematic because of the micromanagement. So, instead of adding a tedious labor why not add it as a mechanic into the already existing Hunger meter?

I've read some people actually survived from only water. So, how about adding the ability to drink water without this "Second hunger meter". What water will do is raise its own bar over the hunger meter (it should be marked as blue for obvious reasons). Making it a new mechanic for surviving. How would it be balanced and how would it not be abused?

You can make it so the bar will only raise up to 50 hunger points, the meter will have a faster drop rate than the normal yellow hunger bar, if you drink too much water at a time your character becomes stuffed. If the water, like they have mentioned, is not treated it will take a toll on your character's health and sanity.

This just adds another way handle hunger in those desperate times were one runs out of food but only temporarily, and it adds the whole drinking mechanic without it being a task and could also help with cooling off on summer. Just my two cents, this is just me point of view on the whole drinking deal, but I also personally see it as a feature which could make the game easier.

"I've read some people actually survived from only water."

That concept is called Inedia and people have died from believing it to be true. If you stop eating your body starts using up whatever energy/nutrients it has stored and when it runs out you die.
