FEZ
I've got this idea not long time ago - I don't know if anyone suggested it yet, but here it is.Imagine if you could have rivers in DS, I suggest 3 levels of deep. Ford - the most shallow, allowing you to move through the river from one shore to the other and also hunting for fish with spear. It could be great and efficient way of getting food! ( there could be some crocodile like monsters coming out of it, normally living in deeper regions but coming out in certain seasons. Regular level, you can move through it only with use of boat. Relatively safe, but with occasionally minor river monsters. You can use fishing net like regular traps but it helps you to get more fish than just one. Deep level - mostly unsafe with some dangerous stationary monsters like tentacles or big groups of river merms. River gives lots of possibilities, even separate islands with wide and deep river separating it from us. Also it could freeze in winter allowing us normally walking on it's surface. So, what do you think? It's my first suggestion so I hope it's not bad idea.Of course it would work only on bigger maps... ThePreChewedTree
That would be awesome! River monsters would be interesting. Your profile picture. Its so perfect. Guest
It actually does seem like an interesting idea. Bodies of water actually come into play very little in Don't Starve, aside from fishing in ponds and the ocean spawning Pengulls. I'd be all for a "River Update". As far as the boat goes, while it's in the water, it could lose durability. It'd probably be full of holes too, so while you're in it, your wetness meter would rise. If the durability ran out while you ere in the river, you'd drown and lose your items. Minik435
So +3 for this idea!As @Spookers the Spoo said, it can drown but I have next idea for that (to don't lose items): special coat or rescue circle? (Sorry, IDK how to spell it).Water spiders would be great too. FEZ
Iit's lifebelt in english but I guess it could work if you would carry it in your inwentory. I think that boat would start to leak in moment when it would be damaged. At first wetness level would increase only slighly but with seriously damaged boat it would build up real quick. I'm afraid that decreasing durabilty of boat could not work unless we would have possibilty to swim to the shore ( of course - you are in water, you loose all your stuff - at least your backpack.). In place full of monsters we would die anyway and this is main reason to use the boat. Which reminds me that the boat could be uprgaded to include some kind of chest, and then the sail to make it move quicker (like I don't know 2 logs, 8 silk and 4 ropes) What else only raincoat could prevent soaking, and there should be rain boots too. Parasol seems to be pretty unlogical to decrease wetness of body. Also it would be good if we could dry our stuff on something similar to drying rack. (this part is in polish so I'm sorry for not translating this right away)Pewnie na myśli miałeś coś w stylu pająka topika Minik bo nie wyobrażam sobie sieci na wodzie . Pozdro! Water spiders could work like a minor monsters in this case but without the big 3lvl nests at least not in regular deep level. Diving Bell spider could work as a good reference.
