Help with A character mod

Hi i am new to posting on these forums and i started to work on my first character mod.

 

i was following the tutorial here http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/27341-tutorial-the-artists-guide-to-characteritem-modding/

 

i have my character art template done and i was hoping someone could help me figure out a quick way to test out how the art works before i get too far. I tried to follow the tutorial above but started to get confused when coding and was hoping someone could help me test my art i have created either by explaining in the comments or by pointing me to another tutorial... preferably a video if there is one so that i can see in depth all the steps and to help cut out confusion in sort of vague parts of tutorials.
