Using Lure Plants to gather buff?

Having my game just get crashed from a glitch related to Lure Plants, I started thinking about how much more potential the plants could have. A 30 second scramble to crack it open, followed by three days of waiting for the bulb to regrow? Not so much fun. So I started thinking, what would be a good way to domesticate it?

 

How about an item you can craft or even find in the wild (like an evil flower, or honey). Dropping it near the Eye Plant would cause it to gobble it up and clog up the works of the whole thing. One of two effects should then happen:

 

1: The Bulb would be unable to digest anything for a 24 hour period, leaving its contents available for plucking at the characters leisure

2: The Eyeplants immediately vomit up anything they eat, and then won't regrow for a period of time after spitting something out of them.

 

Think about the potential: Leave it on a field surrounded by spiders, and come back a day later to pick up a metric shitload of monster meat, silk and glands without having to babysit the bulb. Is it not glorious?

Seems like this would be a huge advantage to the game, a bit too much. I personally think that the fact you have to act in a timely fashion to kill it without dying is part of the challenge. If you only have to let it eat something so simple as an evil flower and then come back days later to gather the items there is no fun in that. I also don't see how you would "domesticate" it. I have a lure plant farm and I have no issues with it, just plant it on stone and the eyes will not grow through it. If you have a walkway and a huge enough area of stone only the plant bulb will grow and the eyes only grow in the soil, I use that to my advantage.
