[HELP] Lightening on a Custom character?

Hello again, I have a question or two, I'm making a custom character, and I'd like to add this really funny detail to it. 
Okay so we all know what happens in RoG when you get struck by lightening right?* Is there a way I can do it with my custom character? I looked into the anims of the dlc and I saw that the chars have a different format than vanilla. Is there a way to change/make it so I can safely add the sprites without creating a shapeless monster character?
