Desktop Shortcut

Hello everyone,

 

I ran a quick search and was not able to find any information regarding the issue I am having.

 

I have don't starve with ROG on steam as well as standalone.

 

I like playing the standalone version more, but I can't seem to get a desktop shortcut no matter how many times I try and reinstall or navigate to the folders where it has been installed.

 

 

Also, when I use the start menu in 8.1 to launch the game, I get a command prompt for a second. After that second it goes away and nothing happens. When I change the updater name from updater.exe to updater.exe.exe it runs the updater just fine.

 

 

Can someone help me with this issue and help me add a desktop shortcut so I am able to run this game?

I had this problem, I always had to go into the folder and hit "runme". Just drag that to the desktop/bottom bar if you have windows 8 that works. Now I have the actual game shortcut down on the bottom bar, Idk how, my younger brother just was messing around, and that happened.

Upon doing that I still get the command prompt that will open and close.

 

 

 

P.S.

 

If I right click and run as an administrator, I get a popup that says "Windows cannot find 'updater\19(or 21)\updater.exe" and to make sure the name is typed correctly and all of that blah.

 

When I change the name of the updater to .exe.exe it works just fine and runs the updater and then I can play.

in my "infinite wisdom" I did not check the bin folder until now. The second file down is the application. when I click that it runs and opens the game. I am not sure if this makes the updater run to check for the latest files, but it runs the game which is what I was looking for. I am also able to pin this to my taskbar and desktop.
