RainingFrogs
so far my experience with DS is it's either depressingly easy or oppresively difficult, tweaking with the map helps but I feel like some sort of middle ground is necessary New Map Sizes: Small, Tiny and Claustrophobic Bees and Killer Bees are kind of insanely strong, ive watched regular bees nuke three or four beefalo in a row. some sort of combat progression or upgrades. better ways to heal large drops in health/sanity enemy swarming needs to be toned down, I often find myself being attacked by like 6 or more things at once. It would be nice if there were a weak thief-type enemy that is prevalent early on, basically something that forces you to be on guard a lot but dies easily without dealing out much damage. I'm imagining Claustrophobic being a very tiny 3x3 (in turf) area, with a sinkhole. In the caves you can find chests with more ground you can place to extend the island. I have to agree with that. Eh, maybe. While I think that tiering of armor in this game is kinda fucked, I think weapons do just fine and therefore it'd be easier to just balance the armor instead of adding an RPG-style upgrades system. Assuming that's what you mean. I don't think we need this. At what point in the game are you having trouble with sanity and health? Agreed, to an extend. I think, in most cases, swarming is perfectly fine, you just need to learn some tactics. Try to get one enemy in the "front" of the group. Hit it, then run back very quickly. Do this until the swarm is all dead. But I think that ranged enemies like Spitters and MacTusk are just totally screwed. Parrotoss
I absolutely love the idea of small and tiny maps. Like small would have biomes very close together and tiny would be a tiny island with a wormhole that connects to another small island as Doomfan64 said. Armor & Swarms: The issue I find is that armor basically doesn't soak damage at all against groups of enemies, it's only good for taking hits you're already trying to avoid anyway Swarming: basically run or die, pick off the last guy in the group if you can then rinse and repeat but that's most of what your tactics are. Sanity and Health: If these DO tank, they take forever to get back to full, I feel like there should be some sort of craftable full heal or full restore, not that it needs to be EASY to craft, just possible. A larger map would be cool, personally I would never play on a smaller map though. Bees are powerful, but they have to be to protect their hive from the player and make gathering the resources a challenge. Adding more bees but decreasing their attack power would lag the game since I've frequently seen maps where 1/4 of the land is covered in hives. Trying running through that, I have! As for combat progression there's already a mod for that, the RPG one. There are craftable poultices for restoring lost health and now that flowers are sustainable simple pick flowers to restore sanity. Enemy swarming is fun, and if you aren't into that kind of fun simple avoid it or only go into dangerous areas with an army of pig bros. This games meant to be a challenge. As for sneaky thief type that might be cool, kind of reminds me of the kobold in dwarf fortress for some reason. There's already a thief type though but he only comes out when you're naughty.
