My record-breaker so far: 42 days.

I woke up that day, unable to plant my vegetables because the soil was nutrient-leeched. "Aw well," I said. "I have enough food stocked up anyway, but I've run out of manure." That day, I decided on a trip to pig island to fix this. Pig Island is two islands away from mine. I went over there, traversed the swamps that had been valiantly tamed by me to the pig island to get some manure. However, I didn't notice it had been a full moon until I arrived and the pigs had all turned into werepigs. One began attacking a regular pig so I rushed in and took out the beast. I was running low on pig skins anyway.

After the first, two came charging after me. I attempted to take out another, but in the process they crushed my helmet and ripped my wooden armor to shreds. At this point, I decided flight was my best option. I sprinted back toward my island during dusk but didn't make it half way across the first bridge before night began to fall and the pigs turned back. One of my problems was solved, at least. It's alright, I'll just make a torch.

That's when I realized I had dropped my backpack on the pig island when I put my armor on, with my stack of grass and wood inside it. I ran desperately back to find it, but it was already pitch black when I got there.

Oh no. This is it, I thought. 42 days. My beehives, my farms, my chests of dragon pies and froggy bunwiches.

I wasn't going to be happy about it, but I was readying myself for defeat. I was so overly prepared but I wasn't prepared enough!

Then, something changed inside me. No. Not like this. Screw you, darkness! I'm going to live!

I tried to find my backpack still, but it was a lost cause. All I could see was blackness. I braced myself for The Darkness to come.

The first hit: NO! I stuffed my face with honey. Second hit: I stuffed my face with honey. Oh no. This isn't going to work.

Then, I saw something at the edge of my vision.

There's a light... fireflies.... FIREFLIES!

I ran toward their light and ate as much honey as I could manage before they scattered. Then I ran away to encourage them to return and braved the harsh attack of The Darkness. As they returned, I ran back in and continued with the honey. I desperately repeated this until the sun shined down upon my bearded face.

Day 43. :D

I remember I had a Meat Effigy.

Glad you like it! I can't believe I got through that night! I'm on day seventy or so now.

More? I don't know what to write, lol. What do you want to hear? This started as just sharing how I survived without a campfire or torch, but then I got all randomly narrative like I tend to. :p
