Character Backstories

I know this topic has been done to death, but I just thought I'd throw in my thoughts

Maxwell promised each of the characters something they wanted desperately, but banished them to the world of Don't Starve to accomplish that.

  • To Wilson, as shown in the "Forbidden Knowledge" video, Maxwell promised success in his experiments and special magical knowledge--which he used to create Maxwell's door and banish himself to the world of Don't Starve
  • To Willow, he promised freedom from authority and societal pressures--by being banished to a world where she was the only inhabitant.
  • To Wolfgang, he promised a reason for him to use his strength beyond simply performing in a circus--by banishing him to a world where he would need all of his strength just to survive.
  • To Wendy, he promised to return Abigail to her--by resurrecting her as a ghost in a hostile world
  • To WX-78, he promised a world without humans, where he would be free from Asimov's laws and could murder living things as much as he wanted--but he also made the living things try to kill WX-78
  • To Wickerbottom, he promised a use for her wealth of knowledge, the chance to experience the outdoors after years behind a desk, and the opportunity for her books to be published.
  • To Woodie, he promised a world full of trees, and the return of his beloved axe, lost years ago in the Canadian Wilderness. He also promised to prevent the Werebeaver from ever hurting anyone again.
  • To Wigfrid, he offered the chance for her created persona of Wagrithr to become a reality, complete with weapons and a warrior's spirit. \
  • Wes is just annoying so Maxwell locked him in adventure mode until the player frees them.

I could see this. I just wish the developers would give us more info. Back ages ago, Kevin hinted at Wolfgang's backstory but nothing developed from there...we are quiet metaphorically, in the dark.

I believed that other people other than Maxwell and Charlie was involved in making the world because maxwell hints that he once knew the Anceint Guardian and WX-78 was created by one of the people involved and Wickerbottom was the wife of another person involved and maxwell promised her that she would be reunited with her lost husband
