How Steam Updates are ruining the game for me

The recent February update has made some of the mods I've installed unusable and crash the game.  These mods enhanced Don't Starve for me in ways that were greater than what the update added (the expanded start options mod by _Q_ had better options than what was included in the update).   So now  I am stuck with the problem of trying to reorganize and fix the mods I've installed to see what will work with this update.  

 

After tinkering a while today to see what I can do to get the game back to playable I am still having crash issues.  I don't know if I'll ever play the game again now because I have to go back to square one - and in some cases (because modders may never update their work) I'll never get the game back to what I enjoyed.  I won't be buying RoG then either :/

And surely this has nothing to do with suggestions...maybe feedback. But Mods are made by modders who make them for fun or because they want them for themselves and are so kind to share them with the rest of us.

I can understand that it isn't fun if the mods aren't working after an update. But then you have to wait until the mods were updated (perhaps ask friendly in the thread of the modder, if they come from here) or start to look into modding yourself.
