Up To Date Custom Character Tutorial/Sample Pack etc?

Hey guys, so I am trying to make a custom character and I have all the art finished, but it seems that I can't get the character to work correctly. My game says the mod is out of date. I am thinking maybe the info I have found on how to build a character is out of date as well because the sample pack linked didn't include the xml files or anything, just the templates. 

Is there an up-to-date guide on making custom characters somewhere? Thank you.

If you still click on it it should still work, at least mine is even though it says out of date

Nah, the sample pack doesn't include the xml files. I finally found a working character on Steam Workshop, downloaded that and overwrote the files with my files to get it working and it worked. I don't know why but the sample_character download LACKS all the xml files needed. 

Right now my issue is that my character art is showing the ghostly outline of Wilson underneath even tho I didn't leave him in the template at all and I need to redo my art in HD because the tutorial's suggested resolution makes it look grainy. 

And now to figure out how to do the powers /abilities I want for my character which is going to be hard because I have no idea how to do any of it. Some of it I think would be awesome but no clue if its possible. Mostly tho I just don't know what I'm doing. But today I got the art working. One part down.

I'm trying to make a character too but....didn't really find a full and advanced up-to-date tutorial. I wonder where those guys learn to mod and create characters in this game.
