Naughtiness

Recommended Posts

I am sure this topic has been brought up before, and to be honest I did not do a search of the forum to confirm. I am discouraged from doing such things because people like to tar and feather those who ressurect old threads.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

So, how does everyone feel about the naughtiness points? I personally do not like it that much. I think the game would have been just fine without this added sub-layer feature. In a game that is pretty ruthless about survival and developing proper strategies to do so, I find it odd that they would implement a "punishment" for killing certain animals. If I am starving in a survival situation I wouldn't think twice about "murdering" a rabbit...it is survival. Furthermore, I don't really like that they use the term murder in the first place. Killing an animal for food should not be termed "murder," but maybe that is just my hunter enthusiast side coming out. I also find it disturbing that murdering a rabbit in your inventory earns you naughtiness points while cooking the animal alive does not. That is morbid.

What are other people's thoughts on this? I'm curious.

Please be aware that, although having played the game for some time, I have yet to trigger a Krampus visit. I am not saying any of this out of spite. I kill plenty of rabbits (I am not sure what the threshold is), especially during winter, but maybe I ration my food and spread my food sources around enough that it hasn't effected me...yet.
