[Mod Idea] Reincarnator That Changes Your Character

Here's an idea for a new death cheating structure players could build: The Reincarnator.

 

It would work identically to a meat effigy, except using it randomly changes your character upon respawn. For example you could be playing as Wilson, die, then appear at the Reincarnator as Willow or Wickerbottom. Dying strips all benefits and penalties of your previous character, and grants you all the benefits/penalties of the new one. You have no control over which character you return as, although you can continue to use reincarnators and die multiple times until you're randomly transformed into the character you want. 

 

Character specific items like willow's lighter wouldn't get removed from the game, but could not be used when you're a different character. Switching characters also gives you that character's unique items (if applicable), but only if you haven't already gotten them yet (either by starting as that character or reincarnating as them previously).

 

Meat effigies, amulets, and touch stones would take priority over reincarnators, and the game would use those up first before reincarnating you.

I like the idea. 

 

Another idea for down the road when a two-player mode ever comes, you could make it so that you can be reincarnated as a tree, butterfly, spider, etc. and the other player has to come chop you down/kill you to respawn again. 

 

Or you could do in single-player.  You would spawn as a tree and there would be a random timer or something where eventually you would get struck by lightning and burn down.

 

Don't know if either would be possible, but would be a fun spin on the whole reincarnation thing.

I feel like this would make an interesting set paired with some sort of... Transmorphificator that randomly turns a LIVING character into one of the others.

 

Could spice up long-running games, if you could change character down the line.
