Bunny Bag (backpack upgrade)

Recommended Posts

Basics: It's a backpack upgrade that increases movement speed.

Crafting: 1x Walrus Tusk and 4x Bunny Puff 4x Twigs

Increases movement speed by 10%

Number of inventory slots: 8 (same as standard backpack)

This just seemed like a relatively interesting idea to me, it's a simple buff and it adds another interesting aspect to the whole backpack system. I'd love to hear everyone else's ideas on the subject as far as what you guys think would be cool to see. Thanks for reading. Have fun with the game and always remember, Don't Starve.

***WARNING***  ***BRUTALLY HONEST OPINION INCOMING***

I hope you realize that adding this would completely unbalance things. As far as I'm concerned anyway. A backpack has its

downsides and upsides. The standard backpack: Has a limited storage space but doesn't prohibit speed. The piggyback has a large amount of storage space but limits speed. You can't fairly have a backpack that has sure a downfall but so many ups that it makes up for it. And besides logically this would make no sense. You would do what here? attach some bunny puffs to a twig add a tusk to it and string it up to your backpack. I see how that would make sense. At least make the player get a walking stick and then craft it to the backpack with a rope. That still would ruin the balance but... This may make a half way good mod but most likely a waste of time. If it was a mod it would be bordering on bad. I'm such a cheerful ol' bloke. I wonder why I have no friends? My demeanor is just so wonderful at all times.

I love your argument, it's both angry and logical at the same time. I actually respect it a lot.

Most of this crafting recipe of the Bunny Bag was based on the original backpack which is grass and sticks.

The first argument that came to mind was to say that the bunny puffs are light, making the backpack lighter, but your argument with the tusk brought it down. Then again, the Krampus sack is covered in chains.

I was thinking about removing 2 slots of the pack as a downside (6 bonus slots instead of 8 and the 10% speed buff).

Also, spelunking in Don't Starve isn't something a lot of players do early game, so it's an upgrade, not just a easy buff; and the tusk must be obtained during winter.

It's important to remember that Don't Starve is still a survival game, not a survival simulator. Carrying a walking stick (extra weight) wouldn't realistically make you faster and, as I said, the Krampus sack is covered in chains

I would genuinely love to hear more on what you think though. Thanks for the feedback man/woman, and always remember, Don't Starve.

I agree with your opinion now "more." I happen to g o camping a lot in-fact I go almost every month. Walking sticks do infact increase your speed by adding mobility providing you use it properly. I don't understand why adding bunny puffs to something would make it lighter. Isn't it true that by adding something you are indeed increasing the weight? Unless you are proposing that bunny puffs would some how aerodynamically increase the speed by somehow altering the shape (I could further debate this subject but I think my point in case is clear)? I like the decreased slots. I like the speed bonus. In-fact I agree that the speed bonus is fine as long as its partner is a decreased slot carrier. One last thing I don't agree with. This game is in-fact a "simulator" because it simulates how you would survive in a situation like Don't Starve. Anything that attempts to recreate an aspect of something else as a matter of entertainment, play, or training is a simulator even if fictional. Just being a game about survival that makes it a simulator. I just noticed how many times I used "in-fact" if you spot them all I will give you a prize.

Maybe the backpack instead of being made of grass, is made of bunny puffs which is (supposedly) lighter then grass? no idea what the walrus tusk is about though

The tusk is used in the walking cane which makes you faster, so by that logic, having the tusk attached should make you fast.

I understand how the bunny puffs would make you lighter. As unrealistic it may be....

C'mon. We're talkin' Don't Starve here. Pocket-sized walls, pig-people, silverware and dishes coming from a crock pot? Evil night monster?

Realism = none. I support this idea, and I also love how you two are having a civil debate, and not throwing insults at each other.
