(The event itself lasted for a decade or so. It has been a few hundred thousand years since that occurred.)

The shadows begin to try and stop Oxryklne, but small wisps of light shoot at them from Oxryklne, paralyzing them.

I got the shadows covered. You just focus on saving the kid.

(I'm going to assume that possession is pretty much just transferring your consciousness into someone elses body.)

Oxryklne slowly opens his eyes to find himself staring at his friends.  It takes him a second to realize he's seeing out of the boy's eyes.

Okay.  Admittedly, this is pretty neat.  What now?  Oxryklne asks Frank.

(Yup.)

Well, first, you're going to have to brace yourself. You should be connected to the entire body soon...

At that, a searing pain shot through Oxryklne's jaw, and he could now feel as many, many shadowy entities tried to worm their way out of his mouth.

Just give me a second!

Oxryklne directs the water to spray into his mouth like a super-high-pressure hose, in an attempt to blast all the shadowy stuff out.

EDIT: (Just realized that was a dreadful idea, as Oxryklne is either going to be crushed by the water pressure or worse.)

(I'll take pity on you, because we can't have our beetle be digested, can we?)

You fool!

The water cleared out quite a few dark arms, but headed for a now unconscious beetle who was by the mouth. However, as the first few ice cold droplets came into contact with Oxryklne, he jolted back to his beetle body. As he did so, the water stopped, then simply poured out of the child's mouth, for it no longer had a force to push it at Oxryklne. More shadows entered the child's mouth to replace the old ones.

Okay, why don't you try that again, just with less killing yourself.

Shut up.  This is your fault.  Oxryklne says, reentering the boy's mind.  This time, he targets only the shadows with the water, using concentrated bursts to wash them away.  However, between the pain in his jaw and his general inadequacy, he is jolted back into his old form multiple times before he starts making progress.

I feel sorry for whoever that person was.

Oxryklne coughs violently, purging the water from the boy's lungs.  Groaning with pain and effort, he then withdraws back to his own body and flies of of the his mouth.  Seconds later, he is racked with immense pain; the water pressure dealt serious damage to him.  He manages to land on the ground before dropping cold.
