Nethy
Hi there, I'm new in this forums and not a player (yet). I'm trying to buy "Don't Starve" using my paypal account but I'm having some troubles in doing so. Every time I try to proceed with the payment, it fails and tells me to try a different payment method. This happens at the humble store and the main "Don't Starve" site. Is this payment option down? If so, when will it become avaiable again? Will I have to open an account at Steam and try from there? With this being said, I must say I would rather not use Steam. I would prefer to simply get the standalone version. Cheers!
Syd
If you're trying to pay using a credit/debit card, you might first want to check that Paypal transactions aren't being blocked by the bank or credit card company. Have you tried using Amazon's payment option instead? That's generally my go-to method of buying games through Humble widgets.

I would prefer to simply get the standalone version. Cheers! Also, while not related to your issue, I would recommend you to buy the game via Steam. With Steam, you can install mods (makes your gameplay way better) with little to no difficulty, you just need to click at the mod you want and click at "Subscribe". Steam also offers you the option to check updates that are not released yet (if Kevin releases them for beta/alpha tests inside steam), taking screenshots and community HUB functions. I see little to no reason to avoid using steam. But if you REALLY have preference over the standalone, not to worry, my friend. Even if you buy the game at steam, you can still play the standalone. Do I get a Standalone key?If you are playing Don't Starve on Steam, go to your games library and choose "View CD Key." Here you will find a new product key that will allow you access to the Standalone; - Go to your internet browser and type in: https://www.humblebundle.com/s?key= - Add your product key after the = and press enter to continue - This will take you to the Humble Store page, choose and click your operating system (Linux) - Once you've chosen your OS, click on the "Download" tab to begin downloading the Standalone client. - Install the Don't Starve Standalone Client and run it; the updater will prompt you to input your product key, input the product key you got after right-clicking on Don't Starve in your Steam library. If you made it through this list and you are still having issues, use the contact us form and send as much information as you have that may be able to help us track down and fix your issue. Nethy
Thank you for the speedy replies I will try again tomorrow and if it fails again, i'll consider getting it from steam. Knowing that I can play standalone without having to rely on steam login is reassuring. Thanks again, cheers!
