Schatzy
Costs: 150 Research PointsRequires: (Don't care if Alchemy or Science, though Science seems more logical to me.)Function: Allows you to combine tools to either repair, or heighten the strength.Repair: Lets you combine 2 damaged items (They can not go over 100%) and give them the strength of 1. This is convenient because it's annoying when you got a 7% axe and maybe another random axe that's low like 40%.Combine: At the cost of 1 gold nugget per item being combined, allows you to create a stronger tool.Example: Combine 3 axes, price is 2 gold nuggets, and your axe now has 300% durability.Just a suggestion, also, feel free to add on to other functions the Workbench could present. mobius187
Interesting. I should mention that research points will be eliminated in January, so there's no need to worry about them anymore for your suggestions.I should however point out there is relevance to whether your Craftsman's Workbench (which I'll shorten to "Workbench") is unlocked from the Science Machine or Alchemy Machine. You start the game with access to Tier 0 inventions and the ability to unlock Tier 1 inventions. By building the Science Machine and being within proximity to it you can now unlock Tier 2 inventions, while the Alchemy Machine allows you to unlock up to Tier 3 inventions. Note, that's my own tier system, as I think I've only officially seen it go up to Tier 2. So, long story short, is your invention Tier 2 or Tier 3 locked? As to its function... that's the interesting part. Obviously I'm reminded of Minecraft, but then that's like seeing an endoskeleton robot and being reminded of the Terminator. It just happens and doesn't lessen the worth of the idea. Personally I've always supported repair items, even after the hammer was added to tear/destroy objects (and yet not items... what's up with that?). I'm not sure if combining is the best way to repair items, as I would prefer to be able to invest resources to repair an item. For example, using new logs to repair a log suit.I have to disagree with the "Combine" suggestion, as I think it's simpler to just have the current types of tools, without adding gold to them. I mean, unless it's a gold tool, in which case, as per my previous suggestion, gold ore should help repair it. But other than that... no. But hey, that's just my opinion. As far as the whole "BYE BYE RESEARCH POINTS!" idea goes... T-T I loved the system...As far as the whole "repair" idea you mentioned was... that was my original idea but for some reason... I thought "combining" would make more sense, only because of the whole hard atmosphere of the game, but I do like the idea you mentioned too. mobius187
Thanks for the input! As far as the whole "BYE BYE RESEARCH POINTS!" idea goes... T-T I loved the system...Well the main problem with the research point system was it promoted grinding. Players would be just performing actions for the sole purpose to collect as much materials as they could to feed the science/alchemy machine. I know I did that too. Kevin wants to create a system where you unlock research based on your needs. In short, while you'll still need the machines, now you'll be feeding them resources in order to prototype inventions. To prepare for this the resource cost of inventions are being lowered because initially you'll need to feed the machine 3x as many resources to unlock each invention.Of course this idea is still new, so Kevin wants to hold off implementing it until after January so he doesn't just drop it in our laps and leave for Christmas vacation... and then return to find out how badly it may not have worked out. As far as the whole "repair" idea you mentioned was... that was my original idea but for some reason... I thought "combining" would make more sense, only because of the whole hard atmosphere of the game, but I do like the idea you mentioned too.I'm glad we agree. Now we must convince everyone else.
