random person Posted October 5, 2013 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Hello, not too long ago I began playing on my saved game on Don't Starve. To my surprise, I was near the rope exit on the first cave floor when I had saved in the ruins on the second cave floor. I checked my map only to find that all that I explored in the cave remained unexplored. The next thing that I noticed was that all of my items in my inventory were missing. I exited the cave and luckily the items I left outside it were still there. I went back to my base only to then realized that all my items that I had crafted were no longer craftable without the use of a science machine or the others. This all happened after that new update. What happened? Did this happen to anyone else? What should I do? Your help will be very much appreciated. Also I am very sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place for I am new here and it's all quite confusing for me. perpetualmuse Posted October 5, 2013 Share Posted October 5, 2013 This happened to me as well after the last update and since my most recent backup was from quite a while ago I just accepted losing my items and unlocked all the recipes again. I don't think there's much else you can do unless you have taken frequent backups. You can unlock your recipes again with the console if you wanted to I guess, but basically it has regenerated the cave, so going back down to recover your items won't help Moving between levels in caves and cave generation was buggy before the update, but now I save and take a backup before every cave entry/exit and even when moving between levels. I guess I won't be playing Don't Starve for awhile out of self pity for losing my thulecite club and armor and having to craft all those items again..... The devs said some of the save games went corrupted and actually delayed the non-steam releases due to this. As of Monday's Hotfix, this should no longer happen, but it may require a new game or you going to a new world with an existing game if that world got corrupt.
