Caochu
Hi ! First, I have to say that I'm french, so my english might be a few bad, sorry for that. I'd like to make a feedback about what I thought was the biggest and terrifying part of the game : the ruins. What a deception ! To me, it only appears like a long and terribly annoying hit&run section. The caverns was also a bit like that, but here it is bigger : my only reaction all the long of my run was "Oh, a random uninteresting monster which drops nothing new or good, go run faster across its aggro area". Through that, what's the point of this part of the game ?I travelled all the four ruins my world got, killed the four Antical Guardian, without shooting more than five White Spiders. No Monkey, no Slurper, no Mechanical things, no no no. Just a huge amount of rocky spiders on the first floor to discover the ruins, that was pretty fun with the rabbit, a cool part. But the second floor, it was just finding the labyrinth and running across no matter what, finding the end and the Guardian. Oh, and when the darkness is at the maximum, just run 2 minutes 30 seconds that the demons disappears : no fun at all. There's really something wrong here. I am, just now, mining some gems (which I don't know what to do with, also) and the cycle or mobs force me to run. No challenge. My character is Wx-78, my first game problem underground is the sanity which forces me to return to the surface, however I don't know what thinking about the difficulty here : too much cause I have to run all the time or too easy cause it is really no brain ? I guess the both. There is already some hit&run monsters on the outer side world, like the Spider Queen, the Deerclops, the Treeguards, the Pigs when you're mad at them, the Tallbirds, the Hound, the Spiders ... Uh, oh, all the mobs I guess now, just without Koalefant, Krampus and Rabbit. So, you might have understood my thoughts now. Aren't nobody else thinking the challenge of the game must be something else than running capacity ? I love my Walking Cane, and I'm upset of that. The game is supposed to be a survival, ambienced game. I've lost it. I've never made any campement underground, never feared nothing. Just be mad about the demons due to the cycle. In my opinion, there is a lack of boss monster hanging around like on the surface and looting some interesting things, to restore, fight, or improve a basement.Equally, the difficulty of the cycle is not fun, there is too much demons summoning at the same time and no way to fight them when they're ten on you; why not replace them by new demons more equilibrated.Added to that, the White Spiders are annoying and don't participate to the ambience of the game, like Monkeys or unlike Rabbits (really love them), but that's my opinion.Except the new craftable Houndius Shootius, nothing is worth the pain in the ruins, if you want to improve your basement : even the Thulecite Walls, due to the fact that Thulecite isn't a renewable matter, is not a good thing to built with. I don't know what's prepared in the new patch coming soon, but I'm very affraid that the game continues in the same way : losing ambience and gaining false-challenge. Thanks for reading, now I return to my 454 days lenght game.Hope to the see you at dawn ! Sotanaht
I'm not really sure what you are complaining about, too easy or too hard? I personally found them too easy. I was playing Maxwell myself and I found that the clockworks were easy enough to kill with a log suit and dark sword, they almost never came at me more than 2 at a time so I didn't have to do the hit and run thing (which doesn't work on bishops anyway). The nightmare cycle just meant I had to go cower in the relative safety of the natural caverns for about 5 minutes out of every 20. Annoying, but not difficult. Difficult would have been trying to fight the hallucinations outright, which I am fairly sure is impossible with their numbers and respawn rate. The caves were a million times harder, as little as 3 spilagmites in a huge area was enough to give me a really bad day, and I probably had to kill a hundred of those things before I even found the ruins. The caves were a million times harderYou summed up my feelings ! What I wanted to communicate in this topic, was that the ruins could easily be summed up in sentences like above. And furthermore, that it lost a feared ambience : in the outside world, you're worried to meet a spider queen in the wood cause it will tracks you, the same about tallbirds, walrus or even deerclops in the winter. In the caves, that's about the rocky spiders or rabbits when you got some flesh, I'm always like "oh gosh, run faster or find a tentacle area or I'm done" ! Even if the loots of the caves aren't new or necessary, the aim for myself is to discover the entry of the ruins. But in the ruins, the aim is to find the Guardian, and the obstacles aren't such funny. There is not even a progession feeling like in the caves, where you're like "uh, I destroyed a nest, maybe it will changes everything in the war between rabbits and spiders and it will grant me the acess of the second floor". It's juste like finding the labyrinth as quick as you can and running across before the maximum cycle, then smashing the Guardian before the maximum cycle yet. Once destroyed, no care about the cycle, just escape of the ruins.Uh, and don't care neither about slurpers or monkeys, they're not useful (yes I know that the slurpers might be a real help to protect your head and to make some light, but not in my case; I prefer a good lantern and a thulecite crown). I was impressed in the trailer of the caves, when we could glimpse the rocklobster, and might think that it could be a real danger to meet it in the dark. So, it's a friend and I'm happy about that ! Rocky spiders are enough. I just miss something like a rocky Deerclops in the ruins, to make me feel track and unsafe Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/27881-feedback-about-the-ruins/#findComment-324145 Share on other sites
