Captain Potato Posted December 1, 2012 Share Posted December 1, 2012 Not sure if this is on the development board yet but perhaps a higher difficulty terrain compared to swamp with more aggressive creatures?? swamp land could perhaps surround such areas.Of course there would be small cue signs when you enter such extremely difficult area like that such as "The air around here feels different..." and when you get back to "safer" lands the character would say " I feel safer over here..."There would be villages of creatures each with a boss monster. Land would be crawling with hidden monsters(like tentacles). Perhaps there would be lone animals that attack when you get too close but do not chase you down.Rewards would also be greater like unique consumable unique hats/weapons/armor. Perhaps even one which gives you space AND armor that turns into a unique backpack after the armor has been consumed. A spiky backpack maybe. It has been said quite alot lately but imma repeat in anyway: currently mid- and lategame still need to be added. This will ofcourse also mean more tech for us, be it buildings, armor or weapons.As for ur more specific suggestion of the spiky backpack: since backpacks take up the armor slot, i wouldnt be surprised that eventually there will be a lategame armor that includes backpack storage. Would be nice coz its an extra chore to ahve to equip ur logsuit and drop the backpack whenever u engage in combat, especially difficult when the combat was unforseen or a mistake (such as attacking a beefalo while trying to pick up nearby manure). We've suggested deserts (island or biome), a snowy island, a haunted island, and a volcanic island. And let's not forget the suggestion to add underground caverns. Of course, simply having areas with more dangerous monsters would be a surefire way to ramp up an area's difficulty.Of course there would be small cue signs when you enter such extremely difficult area like that such as "The air around here feels different..." and when you get back to "safer" lands the character would say " I feel safer over here..."You could, but why not let the visual and sound cues speak for it instead? I would prefer to enter an area and come to realize on my own that it's more dangerous. That's the way it was for me when I first stumbled across a swamp... I had never been in a swamp yet, so I was immediately more cautious... then when the first tentacle popped up I was running. There would be villages of creatures each with a boss monster. A spiky backpack maybe.I'm all for unique items/resources, so long as it makes sense. In another thread we discussed the beach biome and giant crabs. It was suggested that maybe the crab could drop shell fragments that could be crafted into armor and a crab claw that could be used as a weapon. Or to cut down trees... I certainly wouldn't be against an item that fits into the chest slot that also serves as a backpack. Of course I would like it if it was an upgradable backpack (i.e. requires previous backpack as a base) so people would be encouraged to first research the backpack before acquiring the means to craft a new backpack/armor.
