Shadowfall

[Battal]

The Queen hisses in reply, and vomits up a few smaller spiders.  They all continue crawling towards the group.

[Blewcheese]

"So, you've brought company."

Joseph begins going faster.

[Battal]

The Queen hisses in agreement.  The group is almost to solid land.

[Blewcheese]

Pops tries to send a telepathic message, but, as he had assumed, the vortex drains his abilities. He whispers back to the group instead, hoping the spider's hearing was somewhat impaired.

"Once we get off this bridge, run for the orange thing."

[Percival]

"Normally I wouldn't touch it, but it must be better then this monster," Fabrico whispers.

 

He twirls his cane, and the gem begins to leak it's same black bile-blood mixture from before.

 

"I'm not sure if this is blood, but try using it."

 

(Have no idea if my new character is accepted.)

[Blewcheese]

Pops shakes his head.

"Not even my Bloodstone Spire can reach me with the Vortex here."

[Percival]

"Well, damn. I'm not well suited for spiders."

 

Fabrico begins to grab Violet and hold her in front of him.

[Battal]

The Queen's weight begins to crack the end of the bridge still connected to land.  If it breaks, the only thing holding the group up will be a thin pillar rising from the lake.

[Percival]

(Damn you Battal.)

[Battal]

(Gotta go fast.)

[Blewcheese]

"Change of plans. Run!"

Joseph and Pops make a break for the orange blob.

[Battal]

The Queen roars, and pulls herself quickly in pursuit.

[Will]

Violet breaks out of Fabrico's grasp, and follows closely behind Pops.

"Want me to break the bridge? I can just zap it, and boom. No more problems."

[Percival]

"I'M STILL ON THE BRIDGE!"

 

Fabrico runs across the bridge, his cloak flapping madly in the breeze. 

[Percival]

(Battal, I need confirmation. Is Sleight approved or rejected?)

[Will]

(He's offline right now.)

[Battal]

Yeah, accepted.

[Percival]

(Yes.)

 

"Get rid of this horrible highness!"

 

Fabrico get ahead of the group and twirls his cane once more. It glows turquoise. He looks like he is about to faint.

Pops shakes his head as he runs.

"We still need to cross the bridge later, if we get out of this. Zapping the spider might be a better option."

[Battal]

The Queen pulls herself off the bridge, her spiderlings rushing at the group in a vast swarm.

[Will]

Violet summons her electricity, but it goes straight up instead of down. There is a brief flash of light on a far away cliff.

"Damn it, there's a lightning rod there! All of my electricity will just be directed there!"

"Well, damn."

 

Fabrico swings his cane like a club at one of the smaller spiders, launching it at the others.

Despite the group's efforts, the sheer number of spiders is too much for them.  They are forced to fall back.

[Percival]

"Dammit you arachnids!"

 

Fabrico tries to beat as many spiders as he can with his cane, for he can't use the wood around him, but he is eventually forced back with everyone else.

[Percival]

(Y'know, Daver, you need a weapon of your own. Doesn't matter if it's a spear made from flimsy twigs, but one of these days, your foot will be eaten.)
