Joseph dives towards the other hand, slicing it's palm. That bit of the arm disintegrates, but it slowly regenerates. Before it can complete it's healing, he drives the sword into the arm part, and it evaporates.

"Hah! Is that it? So... Now we get the souls, right? Do arms even have souls?"

Suddenly, the river's tide increases dramatically, splashing onto Snowfall and Joseph. Wherever the black goo came into contact with the two, a plethora of shadow hands would emerge and grip onto them, dragging them into the shadowy muck.

Joseph, however, does not fare quite as well. His broadsword evaporates into shadows, and any attempts Joseph makes at creating a new one results in small wisps of darkness. The hands cover up his face, and drag close enough to the river so that he is nailed by a wave. The only protruding part of his body is his arm, trying fruitlessly to push himself back onto the surface.

The shadow hands continue going after Snowfall, but the light keeps them at bay. However, the more shadows that are destroyed by her shield of light, the more the glowing aura wanes.

(It's a trap!)

A shadow hand erupts from the river, and drags Joseph's hand under. The barrage of shadow hands continue on Snowfall as her light shield grows dangerously small. The shadow hands can almost reach at her before they evaporate, but they get closer every time.

Darkness. Shadows. Whispers. This is all that Joseph knows. Could it have been only a day ago before they fought Shadowfall? It felt like an age. Everything is dark. Darkness everything. Blackness. Shadows. Nothing.

The shadow hands dive at Shard as well, and they manage to grab her front paws. For every Shadow hand that is defeated, another one surfaces, and then some.

Meanwhile...

Jakob melts some stone gathered by Wilson.  Funneling the molten rock into a makeshift mold the shape of a bar, Jakob blasts some white hot fire into the mix, turning the red liquid gold.  Jakob picks up the bar, which solidifies in seconds.  What he now holds is a golden metal rod wreathed in fire.  Jakob sets it down and repeats the process.

The shadow hands grip onto Snowfall, and she suffers the same fate as Joseph, trapped in a river of darkness. She does not see Joseph in there, nor does Joseph see her. She hears a deep throated laughter as her body is submerged.

The shadow hands shrivel as they get too close to Shard's wings, giving her a bit of time to escape. However, just like Snowfall's aura of light, the more shadow hands that are destroyed by Shard's glowing wings, the dimmer they get.

"Very... interesting. So, I guess that clears up the broken transporter..."

"Yeah, sorry about that. It was an emergency. I had to get back quick."

"Yes, I understand. So, this... Shadowfall. He has been Their prisoner, and has broken free? And now he is destroying the fabric of Their domain, and will seep into ours?"

"That's about the gist of it."

"Tell me something. Why is it, just now, that you are coming to me? Why didn't you come sooner for help? I would have assigned one of the others. It would have been a snap. You still realize that you were only recruited 4 months ago, right?"

"I do realize this. And I don't know why I didn't come to you sooner. I felt like I could handle it, I guess, and didn't want to cause more trouble."

"Well, from what you've told me, it caused more trouble. And you want to go back?"

Absolutely. They need me. Their leader was just killed, and they can't lose anyone else."

"You do have a point. But, you aren't going alone this time. I'm assigning you... hm... this isn't good. You don't seem to have gotten the permission of any of them, or even me, to guest star. I'm afraid, in order to not use copyrighted names, I'll have to let you go alone."

"Thank you, copyright. You make my life easier."

And with that, Will ran out of the meeting room, and down to the transporter room. There was a brief power surge as he went back to the other world.

"Why didn't he just ask for our permission? Then this would have gone so much easier, but now we can't be mentioned by name due to his thoughtlessness. Oh well, not like I wanted to get involved anyway."

<Alright, time to join Joseph.>

The machine jumbled a little, but nothing happened.

<What the? What about Snowfall?>

The machine was slightly more jubilant, but the machine did not turn on.

<This is worrying... how about Shard?>

The machine roared to life, and Will was transported behind next to Shard.

"Shard, do you know where Snowfall and Joseph are? I couldn't teleport to them. I'm worried."

*Snowfall tries to give off her crisp white aura, but it suddenly turns a deep oceanic blue

"Hello?"

*she says muffled, as if she were in water*

she is in watr thogh stupd huhuhuh

Jakob soon has completed a complete cage made out of his fiery metal.

The only thing Snowfall hears is whispers as the shadows slowly try to overtake the blue aura, and they do, but very slowly. The only thing that she can make out from the whispers are the words "Shadows" and "Darkness", the rest is just jibberish.
