Shadowfall

[Blewcheese]

"But... I thought we were brought here by Maxwell? Why would he bring us to this one instead of one of the others?"

[Battal]

Azcar shrugs.  "Maybe it's destiny.  Maybe it's coincidence.  I don't know."

[Blewcheese]

"Destiny? Coincidence?"

Joseph snorts, but says nothing else.

"If... If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"

[Battal]

Azcar grimaces.

"I was old when Shadowfall first rose. I've been trapped ever since.  Haven't really kept track."

[Blewcheese]

Joseph nods, glad to get that question off his chest. He scans his surroundings, hoping for any sign of the ruins that Azcar had described.

"So, what about that tome we got for you? What did you need it for?"

[Will]

"So this is the original world... so it won't ever collapse. That's good."

[Battal]

"I needed the tome because it contains everything I've learned during my stay here. I didn't want all that to go to waste."

[Blewcheese]

"All that you've learned here? How did you managed to loose it then?"

[Battal]

"I was studying spiders when that queen attacked me.  I got away, but lost the book.  Ah, here we are!"

The group has reached the base of the mountain.

"Now, if my memory is not decieving me, the sinkhole should be nearby.  Keep your eyes open!"

[Blewcheese]

Joseph nods, and waves his gloved hand. He points in the direction that he feels the sinkhole in.

"It's over this way."

He begins walking towards it, scanning the area for any signs, as he wasn't able to exactly pinpoint it's location.

[gloryKAT]

Shard nods.

"I have a question, too." she says, looking around. "Why do They want us here?" she finishes.

[Will]

'We only have a vague clue. We are think it might be they feast of misery, fear, and death. But, it is only a guess. Who knows why."

[Battal]

Azcar follows Joseph until they come across a large strange-looking boulder.

"We'll have to move this."  Azcar says, tapping the boulder with his walking stick.

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall washes water over the boulder and freezes it.*

"Someone needs to shatter the boulders."

[Blewcheese]

Joseph nods, using telekinesis to send smaller boulders at the frozen ones, with enough force to shatter them and send them well beyond the point of re-clogging the hole. He steps above the ominous gap in the earth, and shudders.

"So... We're going down there?"

[Battal]

"Yes.  Now, be careful - the rope's old, and it's a long way down to the end of the shaft."

With that happy note, Azcar grabs onto the rope and begins down.

*Snowfall follows, taking tight grip of the rope*

[Will]

"Um, guys... Should we be worried by that?"

Will points to what looks like a bundle of storm clouds moving their way. On close inspection with Will's binoculars, they see the clouds are made up of individual little flying creatures.

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfalls eyes widen, and she lets go of the rope. She falls into the darkness, and all that can can be heard is a faint crackling sound*

[Blewcheese]

Joseph gasps, and goes down the rope as fast as he can. He bends down in front of Snowfall, checking her wounds.

[Battal]

"Snowfall!"

Jakob rushes to the pit. Azcar is barely holding the rope; it appears Snowfall hit him while falling.

"Sh!t!  Azcar, are you okay?  Snowfall?"

[Will]

The creatures are nearing fast, and it is now apparent that they are fusing into less, but larger creatures.

"God damn it! They are getting bigger! Guys, get down there. I'll hold them off for as long as possible before I go after you guys! If I become overwhelmed, I join you all. Don't worry."

Will draws a wooden bow, with all sorts of jewels inserted and designs painted on. He notches a steel arrow, and prepares to fire.

[Battal]

"With all your talk of cliches, you sure do like using them!  Come on!"

Jakob climbs into the pit and slides down the rope.

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall lies on the ground. She sighs her last breath...*

(Don't worry guys! Snowfalls ghost will remain!)

[Blewcheese]

"Snowfall! Snowfall, answer me!"

Joseph shakes Snowfall's shoulders. He checks for a pulse, but finds none.

<What do I do...? What do I do? What. Do. I. Do?>

Without thinking, he presses his gloved hand against Snowfall's forehead, summoning something... An apparition of sorts. He pushes Snowfall's consciousness out of her dead body, hoping to make her a ghost.
