Shadowfall

[Will]

At first glance, nothing happens. Will suddenly drops to his knees. His eyes start to dart everywhere, as if he was seeing something everyone else wasn't. His skin began to take a darker hue as his frame grew smaller, but nowhere near fragile. He let out a scream as the darkening of his hue went from fairly fast to nearly instant. He was featureless, almost a shadow. He stood up frantically, but looked as if he had lost all balance. His arms began to extend, while his fingers were beginning to look more like claws. His legs started to take the shape of a beast, and his feet turned into something similar to that of a bird of prey, but much more menacing. Out of both his elbows protruded a spike, another weapon made of his own body. His head begun to go from oval to a near perfect circle. Two white ellipses appeared on his face. He had grown a tail that at about every foot, there was a cluster of spines.

[Battal]

The voices hiss in fury.

"Now is not the time to reignite old fueds, boy.  There are far more important things at stake here."

[Will]

The white ellipses turn a dark purple as he crumples into a pile on the ground. He dashes on all fours into the darkness.

[Blewcheese]

"Will!"

Joseph looks about frantically.

"What's the matter with him? What'd he turn into?"

[Battal]

"Will, stop!"

Jakob summons fire and runs into the darkness after Will.

 

OOC:  For some reason, this feels vaugely familiar...

[Blewcheese]

Joseph follows after Jakob.

"Something's wrong with his mind! Telepathy doesn't reach him, it's sealed off."

[gloryKAT]

Shard whimpers as she watches them. She flutters her wings pathetically and growls lowly.

[Will]

As Jakob runs into the darkness after Will, he sees a bright flash of purple. Shortly after, Will walks toward Jakob.

"Was that good enough to convince them?"

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall jumps*

"Wh-what just happened?"

[Will]

"Shh, They will hear us. I transformed myself as the staff missed. I don't even know if it fired. But, why are we out in the darkness? Did you guys move?"

[Blewcheese]

Joseph shakes his head, and uses telepathy to respond.

'You ran. So we ran after you. Thanks for letting us know your plan, by the way.'

[Will]

"I didn't have time. I'm going to pretend I'm unconscious, drag me back. Don't make it look like you are trying to make sure I don't get harmed. Don't carry me. Hopefully this made Them think the staff works."

[Blewcheese]

Joseph nods.

'Fine.'

He grabs one of Will's arm, signalling Jakob to grab the other. He begins dragging Will back to where the others are.

[Battal]

"Very impressive, Azcar.  Very impressive indeed."

 

The voice is more irritated now but still considering.  It finally says-

 

"We shall accept your offer of the Soul Cauldron and Transformative Staff.  Shadowfall's prison is deep underground, in the ruins of an old city.  Kill his Guardian, and you will be deemed worthy to enter.  Kill that bastard slowly, for making us trapped for so long!"

 

The other voices mumble in agreement.

 

Breaking out in a smile, Azcar sends the two objects skittering into the darkness.  He then turn to the group.

 

"That went well."

[Blewcheese]

"Yeah... I guess it did."

Joseph looks around, scanning the pitch black area.

"So... How do we get out?"

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall starts to shake hard*

"K-k-kill?"

[Will]

Will pretends to come to, and gets up off of the ground.

"It sounds as if we've got a very combat filled future ahead of ourselves.I certainly hope any of you aren't regretting denying a weapon, because I don't think we are leaving this place until we kill this Shadowfall."

<That wasn't one of The Three I met back then... are there more of Them? How many? Four? Five? Countless? This is revealing some shocking info... he will be interested in this.>

[Blewcheese]

Joseph approaches Snowfall.

"What's the matter?"

[Battal]

(Anyone here?)

[Will]

(I am, don't want to keep moving the plot forward by myself. Might make me seem self absorbed and/or pretentious.)

[gloryKAT]

(I am here too. Shard has no involvement in the plot right now, so I'm just going to make the occasional post and say she's following [the group]. I'll post more when she can actually contribute to the roleplay again.)

[Ellebelly24]

"The problem is that I cannot kill anything!"

*Snowfall tears up*

"Guess this is the end of the line for me... Good luck you guys."

[Blewcheese]

"Whaddya mean, you can't kill anything? It's a demon! A murderer!"

[Will]

"Snowfall, do you realize that if we can kill this thing... it might lead to a way out? I might be able to save you all from here, and return you all to where you came from. We have to do this. No one is saying you have to directly kill it. Jakob, Joseph, Shard, or I could do it. We just want you to help us. You never know what might happen. Plus, I don't want that old cliche of the person leaving, then coming back to save the day. It's so overused. Let's stay together."

[Battal]

"Yeah, Snowfall.  There's plenty you can do against an enemy without killing them."

 

Jakob gives Snowfall an assuring smile, then turns to Azcar.

 

"So, how do we get outta here?"

 

In response, the group vanishes with a *poff*, and then they are back in Wilson's cave.
