I have an idea, even though this thread is old... What if instead of sleeping in a regular bed or strawroll you craft this with a alchemy engine... and maybe craft it with Nightmare fuel, purple gem, straw roll. It has a durability and you can go into dreams... in these dreams are affected by sanity... no hunger bar, sanity bar, health bar. Just the day and night time... you can leave whenever but can't bring stuff with you.. only find rare things in the dreams.... I don't know how it would look but it should look spooky and dapper.

I could put any jewel into my pillowcase. Not sure how it could work.Evil flower petals and nightmare fuel could work though.

During the live stream event for the caves patch this idea was mentioned to whichever dev was commenting on the beta play through on screen. They clearly want to add levels to the caves (dungeons). I don't see why they have to stop with caves.I am not sure what kind of a plot/story the devs have in mind but i do think that a nightmare/dream state could easily be tailored into story. The mechanics could take a few different directions and we do have to remember that this game is currently a stable release. The devs have mentioned that the caves are being used for experimentation but the above world needs to remain balanced and stable. Adding a new, involuntary world might upset game balance and also forces the player into something they might not want to deal with.There are ways around this such as only entering said state when using a sleeping bag and not a tent. Once inside the world it would need to be unique in how it works/reacts and what it provides. I don't know what the devs have in mind for charlie ( the guy who kills you in the dark) but some kind of a confrontation in a nightmare world would be cool.There are just so many different ideas for possible realms and dungeons that it really cant be said as to which ones the devs will pursue. I think all of them are interesting and this one in particular is one of my favorites. Worst case scenario they don't develop this idea in game. They have expressed interest in developing more realms though, so once these ideas have been released in game a modder could just take the information and adapt it to create all of these great realm/dungeon ideas.
