Baark0
A few weeks ago I had a bit of a Wormwood phase, and while overall I think he's a very enjoyable character to play, his lunar cultivator skills always felt really lacking. The most useful one to me was always the carrats, as they made picking juicy berry bushes while on a beefalo easier, and they gathered all the dropped food from giant crops, but even then they can only grab 1 single item at a time. The light bugs are fine, but I think it'd be better if they capped out at 3 active bugs and had their light radius doubled to make up for it. I still think they'd suck as they're very prone to dying to random attacks, especially in the ruins where bishops and rooks will kill them completely on accident while trying to kill you. The saladmanders are fine, but the fact they cost 25 health each just to despawn in 2 days makes them feel really mediocre, especially since most bosses will just wipe the floor with them. Their health being tied to how many saladmanders you have alive at once is really weird too, idk why they don't just have 900 health each regardless. It's also really easy to forget about and lose the plant you used to summon the follower, which is especially relevant if you decide to tame a beefalo or if you have a lot of speed buffs while blooming, though this is mostly an issue with the saladmanders. The solution to me is quite simple: just make the saladmanders (and carrats too tbh) last until they die. The time limit makes sense for the bugs since they're a light source, but for the other followers it just makes them really unappealing to use, which shouldn't be the case for whats supposed to be one of Wormwood's affinity skills. 5 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/172224-followers-from-lunar-cultivator-1-and-3-shouldnt-have-a-time-limit/ Share on other sites
YouKnowWho142 Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM (edited) As a wormwood main I honestly don’t know why anyone recommends the saladmander skills. They die super easily, don’t catch up to bosses very well, super impractical to resummon all the time, don’t offer all that high of a dps boost, and don’t synergize well at all with moonshrooms which I use for a lot of bosses including toadstool, bee queen, and crab king. Making them infinite would help for day to day, but it doesn’t solve their biggest flaws in my opinion. I can’t really even think of a single boss where they don’t just get in the way let alone get value. I almost always prefer the Lightbugs since although they don’t contribute to dps it’s a major quality of life as well as infinite light since you always get the bulbs back. They’re just generally pretty comfy and unintrusive. I agree that the saladmanders are still pretty underwhelming, maybe if they had the ability to ripen (yknow, the entire gimmick of the creature) and do something interesting they'd be better, but that could easily make them worse since you're playing as Wormwood who is weak to fires. Wormwood's skill tree as a whole could do with a bunch of touch ups, mainly lunar guardian 1 not rooting things with brambleshade, and the entire plant crafting side of the tree. I'm sure the monkeytail and lureplant crafts are useful, but to me they're just skills I have zero interest in since the moon shroom cloud is just so much better. The monkeytail craft is pretty useful, lureplant not so much due to it being so late down the tree. If you want lunar cultivator but don’t want the mushroom growing skills it’s a passable tradeoff. the lightbugs are just a personal thing for me, I hated them for a while until I tried them and they’re really comfortable to use if you’re exploring or doing work around the base/farming. It isn’t a very valuable skill at all for boss rushing. Wormwood in general though I’m really hoping for touch ups, he’s really close to having just an incredible skill tree but has the early skill tree growimg pains that hold it back, especially for the bloom skills and the plant craft skills.
