As a part-time Willow main, im loving all the fire related buffs!

But i think a ice cave that is accessible from the cave entrance in the swamp biome would make a fantastic addition to DST as a counter biome to the geothermal.

Screenshot_20260601_222826_SamsungBrowser.jpg.2d71990505a8e9bc3ff24a7ff4d27ec6.jpg

This biome would be home to a special merm type, the abominable merm man. A slow huge tanky merm that has an ice slam attack kinda like a mini deerclops slam. Wurt or anyone with a clever disguise can befriend him and he travels through shards. Only one abominable merm man can exist at any given time.

Killing the abominable merm drops glacier snow which can be used with moon glass to craft glacier tools which act like enhanced glass tools with even higher chop/mine efficiency (like crazy high, 3 chops to down a tier 3 tree), high damage with freeze but super low durability.

We are spoiled with fire biomes, now we need some ice ice baby to balance it out.

Feel free to suggest more things for this biome!

Also feel free to discuss AI, life, terrorism etc etc. :wilsoalmostangelic:

Edit: If glacier tools break while attacking, they shatter on the target with an upgraded arctic freeze status which overrides any current freeze effect which lasts for 8secs but target mob no longer thaws when attacked for this period of time. Mobs who are immune to freeze are effected by arctic freeze but for only half the duration.

This makes breaking these glacier tools during combat a positive thing which is completely opposite of any current weapon we have atm.

Is that an AI summary?

Google AI summary for the existence of ice caves under marshland.

Anyway to justify the existence of an abominable merm im gonna take it, AI or not :wilson_ecstatic:

You're going to trust a technology that is incapable of discerning truth as it only takes into account probability of a sequence of words?

AI 5 years ago isnt the same as today. Its getting pretty good tbh. Not perfect but neither are people.

I was a covid analyst (the person who extracted your snotty/bloody swab sample to test it for covid) then a production scientist for a while. The amount of fraud and data manipulation that real life scientists commit is unreal

Education =/= morally good

I never did any fraud and i was never paid so much to care about other people's wrong doing. But you should trust machine learning over the average person 9 times out of 10.

At the very least, could you ask Google if ice caves can exist in marshland, both with and without "-ai" at the end, and see what comes up for both results, checking whether or not they are similar?

These two things are all I need to know about your judgment of reality. I know my inability to properly articulate my thoughts has been unhelpful in my attempts to educate others, so there is nothing I could possibly say with my struggle to put into words just how wrong you are.

Education is a morally good thing for humanity. To say otherwise is exactly the path the world is headed at the moment. The just blatant disregard for academic knowledge and sharing that with others in a proper manner is disgusting. So many people do it and I detest it because of just how stupidly arrogant it is.

I know nothing about ice caves under marshes. If I cared to find it, I will search for accredited information on the subject, as I have done with thousands of other things, because good people put effort to make sure things are correct.

No, i dont need it to be 100% truthful, 10% is enough for creative plausibility, im trying to make an abominable merm here lads!

You overplayed your hand with this, I think.

Definitely not. You do not realise how stupid and wrong even the most educated people are. But unlike uneducated people, they have the means to lie more effectively...

Sadly as you get older you see it more and more.

AI is a tool, you know it can be incorrect but it definitely speeds up any task. But like any tool, you need to learn how to use it correctly.

This is cool and all, but wouldn't this be better suited in general discussion or suggestions and feedback? This doesn't have much to do with the current beta at all.

No, beta is where the hype is at :wilsoalmostangelic:

Lake draining delusional AI aside, I think it would be nice. would have a nice, calm atmosphere and would probably instill some nostalgia in me for the ice levels from pixeljunk shooter

Would lovveeee this in DSE too

Its fine, the sun will go supernova in a few million years and the lakes will be the least of our worries. And you will die long before that.

Lets double down on AI and automations to get into space asap. :wilsoalmostangelic:

Always been a big fan of ice and wintery settings, winter in DST is currently the best and most fleshed out season. Its by far my favourite.

Yeah I mean long after we're dead the sun Will destroy us but hey since that's going to happen anyway why don't we let a.i. poison all the people who aren't rich with their data centers and shorten their lifespans with all the many long term effects they'll have on the population who can't afford to move away from them. But hey perhaps we'll have space travel better figured out at some point sure hope it doesn't just become another luxury exclusive to the rich. :wilson_facepalm:

That aside I don't think we need another merm type or ice tools.

Chatgpt is great, i use AI on a daily basis.

AI improves efficiency, meaning medicine will improve faster = longer lifespans and more importantly better quality of life.

Once we get into space and figure out space travel, we will have unlimited land to advance on to.

If we perfect cloning and gene sequencing, boom we can repopulate animals anywhere.

Of course we are a long way away from this but should be the goal.

We dont but they would be great for fun and worldbuilding!

Terrorism is a lie, as an irish person that word is clever way to undermine and control the narrative, every person or group of people have reasons to fight for what they believe in, if you want to understand why people commit violence to prevent further conflict, using the word terrorist or terrorism is not productive what so ever.

People dont commit acts of terror for the sh*ts and giggles. Its much more complex so reducing people's act to a single word is dumb.

Alright, you know what? Let's have this thread locked, then @Gashzer can suggest the idea again without including or mentioning A.I. so people don't get mad and derail it.

Hey now, no one is getting verbally abused, just a nice side topic.

No need to shut down mature people having a worldly discussion.:wilsoalmostangelic:

Talking about anything but the topic the thread is based on is not mature in the slightest.

I'm not referring to just you, either.

I mean as the owner of the thread ill just change the topic then :wilsoalmostangelic: gimme a sec..

This thread has nothing to do with the current beta..? Unless part 2 of the Beta is an Ice/Cold tools theme..? Honestly I don’t even know why this thread still isn’t locked yet. But what I can actually say, is that the closest game to DST (which would be The Survivalists) has ironically just received a Frozen Tundra themed DLC.

Thats fine, if the earth used to be a massive molten ball of rock and life magically still found a way to come into being, it can happen again no matter what we humans throw at it.

I swear people dont give planet earth enough credit, biodiversity went from literally zero, nada, completely nothing to all the life we have today.

No matter if we nuke each other, AI centers drain the lakes, meteor wipes out the D̶i̶n̶o̶s̶a̶u̶r̶s̶ chickens, life will bounce back in a few million years.

Moral of the story, give me my goddamn abominable merm man! :wilsoalmostangelic:
