Blondebeard
Does anyone have a good setup for a Beeta farm? Like a safe way to harvest the Enriched Uranium without using the remote worker from the Bionic Booster pack? I have seen some people say that pumping CO2 will make them sleep, but wouldn't the CO2 also need to be cold to avoid scalding the Beethas or warming the biome up? I have multiple Beeta Hives in the Radioactive Biome and I'm still thinking of a good way to automate the harvesting method without killing my dupes. I also want to avoid directly mining or digging the Uranium Ore to not decrease the amount by half. I also have multiple Radioactive Biomes on my main planet, so I want to avoid an overly complicated setup for a single biome since I'd need to copy the setup for each one. Don't listen to people who say beetas not attacking suited dupes is a glitch/exploit :P Seriously, the inconsistent treatment of suited dupes by beetas is why almost no one bothers. Also, the storage capacity of the hive seems unlimited, so you can get by with harvesting the hives once per 10s, 100s of cycles, making the risk of leaving dupes in beeta areas during a save (which is when attacks happen after reload) almost zero (similar to the value of automating the process, *smirk*) The few people who want automated enriched uranium production, go the extra step and cook the hive to drop the product to eliminate dupe labour/involvement entirely: 5 hours ago, Blondebeard said: I also have multiple Radioactive Biomes on my main planet, so I want to avoid an overly complicated setup for a single biome since I'd need to copy the setup for each one. Worldgen uranium is not worth engineering a beeta farm for. Plant the beeta hive where you can, let them mine out uranium, have dupes dig out non-uranium tiles when the beetas get stuck. 5 hours ago, Blondebeard said: I have seen some people say that pumping CO2 will make them sleep, but wouldn't the CO2 also need to be cold to avoid scalding the Beethas or warming the biome up? You can't pump the gas continuously - sleeping beetas are not harvesting uranium. You automate a gas vent with something like duplicant motion sensor or weight plate or cycle sensor that also automates doors. The hive has enough thermal mass to survive occasional (once per >5 cycles) exposure to ~20°C CO2. And if not, cooling it to temps easily achievable by p-water aquatuner is sufficient and cheap. Free, if you've got a slush geyser. In the long term, the only renewable uranium sources are uranium meteors (so you'd build the hives in the space biome), and space POI (which comes out as debris so you can build the ranch anywhere). 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171483-critter-beeta-farm-automation-suggestionsetup/#findComment-1866672 Share on other sites
