IN MY OPINION wx's shadow affinity was never well designed to begin with, why are the shadows helping you pick berries and grass? I expected something cooler... Couldn't we expand that idea of shadows affecting circuits? Maybe allow ONE extra circuit on a shadow circuit board, but its fragile or needs fuel to work or something, like, anything other than the autocollectors picking random stuff... its too late now anyways.

 Anyways, the only appeal was the damage boost, which was OP, a 25% increase to ALL INCOMING DAMAGE is not something WX needed. But at least it was lowkey, an instant shadow whip, very responsive. But now there are these drones that lag behind you all the time, need reajusting when the target moves, are bad at switching targets, follow you around everywhere blocking your GODDAMN cursor, the green beam turning on and off and the drones dancing around constantly during combat are headache inducing.

WHY was it changed to this? To fit his robot ThEmE? The drone spam slop is just tiring and bland. To nerf it? they should have just nerfed the numbers, or remove the vex, not make it clunky and unsatisfying to use. I know they are sticking to the drone idea but i HOPE to see DRASTIC improvements before it goes live.

I think it’s cool be fine if it was 1 drone for damage 4 will be fine for collecting tho. Think nightmare fuel consumption should give you something for the duration. That’s what’s lacking to me. Also bummer that can’t dupe green gems but mass production of items will be sweet now 

I completely agree with this post. Setting aside the debate over balance or personal preference, the drone system is simply too visually obstructive. It doesn't improve visibility compared to the original shadow whip; instead, it's a failed design choice that only increases eye strain. Unlike Wendy’s Abigail, which needs to be a prominent visual object, these drones draw excessive attention for a simple buff and constantly block the mouse cursor. I truly hope Klei takes these concerns seriously.

I'm personally just not a fan of the mimicreep items being usable, as it doesn't add anything interesting to WX's gameplay loop. All it really does is let you save some resources that'd otherwise be spent on equipment, but thats nothing that can't be solved by just farming for extra resources. The one thing it had going for it was letting you use duped green staves to get infinite shroom skin and scales, but that got removed a while ago. The coolest thing you can currently do with it is dupe level 3 shadow mauls, which at best means you only need 1 shadow maul for a server of shadow affinity WXs, and at worst is a band-aid solution for the maul losing its levels upon breaking.

tbh i dont think we even really need all those dmg boosts 

when u are in a public server with slightly more skilled players df fight last less than 1-2 minute, she just got slapped into meat and gems. dont starve doesnt sounds like one of those jrpg that has BIG numbers pops up whenever u hit anything. i would rather to have some fun utility stuff

Agreed, the whole affinity doesnt complement WX's gameplay in any way and after rifts already have too much resources to use, there is nothing stoping you from getting what you want, even if you could dupe construction amulets its already post rifts and you are WX just go to the goddamn ruins and craft some???

4 medium skill players already turn every raid boss into a victim LOL. I think its crazy the devs are keeping the vex effect, instead of making it individual to WX.

To be honest, I was never a big fan of the Shadow Affinity concept in the first place.

 

I hate to say this, but despite the countless updates over such a long period, it's just been tweak after tweak. Fundamentally, it's absolutely no different from version 1.0 (just an attack buff, a Lazy Forager effect, and mimic copies).

When I heard Klei was reworking the Shadow Affinity, I was really hoping for completely new concepts and abilities. But in the end, it feels like the only thing that changed was the visual effect turning into drones.
