Changes

  • Improved responsiveness of Exploiterator state changes between movement and scanning.
  • Exploiterator now moves faster when it has a target.
  • Added missing scrapbook entry for Chessmaster Circuit, Auto-Grabber and Exploiterator.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Possessed Chassis kiting to hold onto their target more intelligently.
  • Fixed Possessed Chassis not choosing a new target if WX-78 killed the target with Spin-Cycle.
  • Fixed Rangebooster Circuits on Backup Chassis incorrectly activating for Auto-Grabber without needing Warm Standby perk.
  • Fixed Dapper Tammie skin sound for equipping it not playing.
  • Fixed Implanted shadow item not being transferred to the Backup Chassis spawned on death from Inhabited Machine II.
  • Fixed sometimes being able to craft more Exploiterator or Auto-Grabber drones when reloading a world.

I came up with an idea for the Exploiterators to be AOE, if it's not going to be done in the traditional way:

Their scanning could be in the form of a cone of light, similar to the Illumination Circuit's Tinkering effect; every mob in said light would be considered being scanned.

If you decide to go the traditional route, you could instead make it one drone that hovers above you or one of your current targets and scans in a circular radius like Jimmy, in order to avoid the cluttering issue the drones currently have; in this instance, having a 25% physical damage (and +10 planar damage) bonus against those within the scanning range would suffice.

If you truly insist on them not giving AOE and cluttering the screen, then they should provide more damage to make up for it; this could be done by:

- Increasing the damage bonus per drone to 8-10%

- Increasing the max drone amount to 5 for the possessed shadow atrium

- Adding +5 planar damage per drone for the possessed shadow atrium

By the way, even though you should let people know if you have to plans to consider their suggestions more often, I give you direct permission regarding myself at least, if you need it. If you don't intend to implement my suggestions, whether it be this one, the empathy module replacement one, etc. you can just tell me straight up, even in private if neccessary; I'd rather know when I should stop pushing for suggestions sooner than later, to prevent wasting time and cluttering threads with redundant posts.

I've just tested a bit on the beta with the changes, the Exploiterators can't keep up with even 1 acceleration circuit they lag behind you, I tried fighting pigs and other mobs on average with 4 Exploiterators I can get two hits with my dark sword dealing 68 damage than on the third hit its 76 Damage and the Fourth is max at 84. The point I'm getting across is most of the time you use them they don't even provide the buff their just way to slow to apply the vex with the old shadow affinity it was nearly instant. There still isn't any aoe from the drones so they are constantly swapping targets when your fighting a horde of spiders or frogs. It needs massive changes to even compete with the first version of the Shadow Affinity skill before it was changed into this, would love to see it reverted but keeping the shadow fuel, pure horror as gathering and shadow atrium, possessed shadow atrium as damage but it doesn't seem like you will.

I would love if they worked like Jimmy scanning in an area that could be boosted by rangebooster circuits and if they were reduced to one drone only at the moment they can clutter the screen when your playing. Shadow affinity has vastly worse damage output than Lunar affinity at the moment it could use a damage buff I like your ideal about a planar buff since by the time you get an possessed shadow atrium you are probably using planar weapons and armor, 25% damage with the shadow atrium and a +5 planar damage buff with a possessed shadow atrium would be ideal. I would love to see these ideas being implemented it would bring back some of the features of the old Shadow affinity while adding some new features I think it would come out great.

I'm not going to lie, it is a bit strange how insistent they are to keep the drone version when they were so ready to drop the old version like a sack of rocks out of nowhere

Yeah I don't it either, it fits less thematically than before and it functions worse with less damage. I thought Klei was just going to add a function to pure horror and improve the visuals I don't know why they changed so much about it. I like the changes where gathering is focused on nightmare fuel and pure horror & for damage its based on shadow atrium and possessed atrium other than that its mostly worse.

It's really bad. If they really don't want to respond to the forum's expectations, perhaps we can seek help from mods.
By the way, if someone is good at mod making, I would like to customize some mods about wx, which can be paid for.

Good changes.

I agree with the community that the old shadow affinity was good as is though. I find the mix of inserting items into your chassis unlocking crafting drones strange... maybe there could be a visual effect linking the drones to the body? (to show the shadow heart fueling the drones, etc...)

I also would like the drones to have an AoE effect, as compatibility with both the spin circuit and followers seems useful and like it should be there. WX would make their drones be synergistic with their circuits ;)

Regardless, "Added missing scrapbook entry for Chessmaster Circuit, Auto-Grabber and Exploiterator." this is great! I really like the scrapbook documentation, and I am a enjoyer of the chessmaster circuit. Re-chessmaster, could we get the option to instruct chess pieces to wait / sleep? It would be very appreciated to leave them in an area for while (rather than having to kill them each time we want to be left alone).

I think since developers have promised not to change the original version, if they think drones are a better choice, should they at least issue a statement explaining the situation and informing everyone of the reasons for choosing drones?

Tested out the speed of the exploiters and changing targets. Its definitely a bit of improvement and I can feel. However, base speed is definitely still an Issue.

Responsive is definitely more fluent (I tested a few bosses out, as well as a few pigs.)

Would you also consider increasing the damage bonus to 6.25%? So when you had all 4 drones it's 25%. I understand if not.

Unrelated to the shadow affinity, I need to note something very important, which for some reason is not mentioned in the patch notes (I have to assume they forgot to include it, oops).

When setting up their circuits, Possessed Chassis will now check for circuit skill tree upgrades on their owner, and will apply their effects.

For the sake of clarity, this applies to all circuits, except:

  • Optoelectronic, as it has no effect on Possessed Chassis regardless of count and upgrades.
  • Spatializer, as it has no skill tree upgrades.

Everything else goes.

wait that's extremely impactful, when did they change that?

On one hand, that's cool.

On the other, that makes me more upset.

That's great. That feels like how it should be.

In this last update.

Just pulled up and tested it, this is really huge for lunar affinity if it isn't a bug

beanbooster shields, super reduced hunger and sanity drain, electrification bursts, flashlight clones, faster spinners

the reduced hunger drain alone will probably enable me to just keep at least one around me at all times
