I would love to see a player-created map and sharing system added to Oxygen Not Included.

Players could design their own maps and upload them for others to play, which would greatly expand the game’s replayability.

Some simple suggestions:

  • A map editor (terrain, resources, temperature, starting conditions, etc.)
  • Basic challenge settings (limited resources, extreme environments, etc.)
  • Upload, rating, comments, and favorites system
  • Map categories (survival, challenge, puzzle, etc.)
  • Basic validation before upload (e.g., survivable for a number of cycles)
  • Featured or trending maps by developers

This system could significantly extend the game’s lifespan and encourage continuous community creativity, similar to a workshop-style ecosystem.

I would like to suggest balancing the suit system in the game.First, nerf the atmo suit significantly. The current atmo suit is extremely overpowered and drastically reduces the game’s difficulty. Please greatly decrease the movement speed of atmo suits to make them heavy and slow. After this change, players will only wear atmo suits in specific high-risk areas instead of using them for daily travel across the entire base.

Second, enhance the oxygen mask. Remove the atmo suit checkpoint stations entirely. Allow duplicants to carry portable oxygen tanks on their backs, and equip oxygen masks directly at any time without needing special dressing stations. The oxygen mask should retain normal movement speed, become more practical for ordinary outdoor exploration, and provide reasonable oxygen protection against harmful gases.

This adjustment will bring the gameplay back to the core of gas management, base sealing and pressure isolation, and will not affect the overall game experience while fixing the over-easy late-game problem.

A common problem with many players who make such suggestions is that they blindly believe other players share the same concerns.
Unfortunately, many (or quite a few) other players don't see the Atmo Suit's performance as problematic as you do (especially newer players).

Reworking the Atmo Suit to make it more inconvenient would consume a considerable amount of Klei resources and, more importantly, would likely deprive some players of the fun. However, simply imposing the restriction of "not using" the Atmo Suit on yourself would satisfy most of your needs (or perhaps limiting its use to only when absolutely necessary).

Alternatively, there might be a more ideal approach. If we added an option to adjust the amount of penalty for wearing the Atmo Suit, similar to the current option to select the rate at which Atmo Suit durability is consumed, each player could choose their preferred difficulty level.
This method would still consume Klei resources, but at the very least, it would significantly reduce the likelihood of depriving other players (who prefer the current balance) of the fun.

Maybe Klei will bring up some Scenario game in where you have to fix something and if the goal is finished it will be continue the game or end there, they already have the Meteor Mechanics from the Prehistoric DLC, with one goal, i don't know

No news about the new DLC ...
