WX's shadow affinity is kinda weird with how it doesn't seem to do 1 major thing, instead doing lots of smaller things. One of the things it does is cause you to be able to use most items that have been cloned by a mimicreep. Why? I have no clue. It feels very out of place to me, why would a robot that's aligned themselves with the shadows be able to use items cloned by small shadow things? Other than both being shadow related, I don't see the correlation.

As for the actual power of being able to use these duplicated items, at first glance it seems really good, but I'm kinda struggling to see genuine good use cases. You can't use duped green amulets, so while you can use duped green staves, you can't duplicate items completely for free. You also can't deconstruct duped items, as they'll simply revert to mimicreeps, wasting a staff use in the process.

Since you can use green staves though, you can dupe tons of items while saving tons of green gems. The items that stand out the most to me are scales and shroom skin, as these items both have crafted items that give you multiple copies for only 1 scale/skin, allowing you to get infinite scales and shroom skin. These are especially useful for megabases, letting you light up your base or make tons of scaled flooring/chests. You'll also get tons of saffron feathers, so if you want to spam electric darts for some reason you'll be able to amass plenty of them. Outside of that, it'll be helpful for duping items, deconstructing void robes/nightmare saddles to amass lots of void repair kits to keep your maul healthy seems like one of the best uses of it.

Hopefully being able to use green staves isn't a bug, as being able to get tons of shroom skin for free would be really nice for lighting up my megabase.

Since you need a possessed atrium to unlock mimicreep duping (making it a post-shadow rift mechanic), duping pre-rift items/weapons isn't really worth considering. As for post-rift items? It's seems okay, I wouldn't say its good since you're basically choosing to trade inventory slots in order to not have to worry about repairing your equipment. So basically turning rift items into their pre-repair kit versions. I guess it saves some resources you'd otherwise spend on repair kits, but like... honestly I'd rather just use repair kits. They're not very expensive and I value the inventory space more than the small amount of resources saved.

Something that could be fun is duping Lazy Explorers and just teleporting everywhere with minimal care. I haven't tested this, so maybe Klei disabled LE usage if it's been mimicreep duped, but hopefully they didn't. You could also dupe pick/axes, since brightshade smashers are post-lunar rift, however this is less useful since you'll have access to the shadow maul, so its mostly useful for infinite pickaxes before killing Celestial Champion. Infinite star caller staves could be useful? You're also playing the character who has infinite light and/or infinite night vision though.

Despite fitting the criteria for a mimicable item, bull kelp stalks are unable to be duped. RIP to the infinite kelp dream.

Ironically, one of the best possible uses for mimicreep duping would be giving those duped items to clones created with the lunar affinity. Think about it, the main issue the clones have is that you have to get each of them their own set of gear, which is exactly what mimicreep duping solves. Unfortunately, I get the feeling that the clones would be unable to use the mimicked items, even if you had two WXs with opposite alignments.

He already makes mobs take 25% more damage anyway. The perks of the shadow side feel out of place for me. They are feel like stuff Maxwell should do and feel stuck on. Im not a fan of them.
