If this is a sequell, how much should we expect to return? The game is called Elsewhere so it surely takes place somewhere else than where the survivors have been all this time and the goats from the gorge are there, would we get new seasonal bosses? Would there be a beefalo replacement? The dolls would replace the hounds? The lunar stuff would be missing? So many questions are making me even more excited for it jajaja.

I sure will miss Pearl if she stays in the main continent.

I think the best guess we can make is "imagine Hamlet, but really big"

Realistically this games looking at a 2028 launch (based off the fact early access hasn't started and Klei usually does 1.5yesrs + of early access)

So it's 100% possible that don't starve together is wrapped up when this launches.

I mean honestly I don't want two games canablizing each other.  You want a new game to take off, retire the old one.

If you don't want that, make this an entirely different type of game (which they clearly didn't do)

I think the best thing to do is wrap up DST and ensure this game is successful.

At the least wrap up the DST story by the time this launches, and trickle out skill trees maybe twice a year. While everything else is on the new game

But I'd still like to see DST predominantly competed by the time this hits 1.0

(if there is some overlap that's fine, to try to get all the dst players to convert over)

Edit okay more conservative example.

2 years until new game is 1.0

1 year of overlap

Gives 3 years until DST is fully over with main title updates. (story and skill trees)

I think that's the way it should be imo

at this point we dont even know if its gonna be long-supported game or klei would be just treat it like hamlet- just stop add new staff when it's "done".

I mean it's a multiplayer game, so I would imagine it's incredibly improbable that it's a one and done

It's probably a nothingburger but I think that the wording on the steam page is interesting - Don't Starve RETURNS with an all-new... so on. I don't think it'd be worded as a franchise "returning" if it wasn't supposed to be a sequel of sorts.

- Make the remaining skill trees

- Make the shadow quest ending

And then just say that is the end for DST updates, apart from qol stuffs

I think this would be the healthiest thing for this franchise, as someone who has spent hundreds of hours in DST im fine with DSE being the new "Core" of the franchise

Also even if elsewhere is the ultimate 8th art and wins GOTY for the next 10 years people are still going to play together
