Sofy Happy
The nerfs to WX are extremely heavy this time. Even long-standing items like hardy circuit that have existed for years have been weakened — something completely unprecedented since the skill tree was introduced. The newly added circuits are far from practical. They might still be unfinished, or waiting for player feedback to get adjusted, and that’s understandable. Plenty of players are unhappy with these changes, and the devs may roll back some numbers eventually. But the skill tree is about way more than just circuit enhancements. Instead of repeatedly tweaking values back and forth, it would be better to refine every branch of the entire tree, so every skill point actually feels worth investing into meaningful choices. If powerful, practical mechanics and playstyles get added later, players won’t complain about losing high raw stats. Based on my current experience, these areas could definitely be improved: 1. Most important priority: the four circuit-slotted skills in the bottom-left corner It’s clear these were meant to let players swap circuits freely. But the devs clearly didn’t want completely free swapping, so they stacked on too many restrictions — making these four points feel weak compared to other upgrades. Players play optimally, and WX already struggles with limited skill points; no one wastes points here. Now that circuits got nerfed overall, the devs could ease the restrictions on circuit swapping to make up for it. Imagine how fun it would be for the robot to rebuild itself on the fly for different situations. Seamless circuit swapping needs three core fixes: circuit durability, circuit storage, and power recovery. Circuit durability: Simply lowering decay isn’t enough. We need a way to repair circuits. Crafting them is messy — ingredients include living creature , food, non-stackable parts — hard to stockpile, so people still hesitate to swap freely. A universal repair item would fix this perfectly. Biological Data fits that role well. Let us repair circuits using extra Biological Data, so Jimmy stay useful from early game all the way into late game as WX’s consistent support resource. Circuit storage: WX now has more exclusive items than any other character. Easy swapping means better storage; otherwise players have to run back to base or clog their inventory. Swapping entire chassis loadouts exists but is way too limited. The simple fix: give WX a dedicated circuit container, like Wendy’s picnic box — store circuits, pliers, and Biological Data inside it. Power recovery: Right now the best recharge methods force heavy reliance on Winona . There should be simpler, universal ways to recharge, both for WX and future chargeable items overall. Lightning rods should give multiple power charges when struck — full reasoning is in my previous post linked here: My suggested rework for the bottom-left section : Remove Fine Tuning and add Circuit Repair, allowing circuit restoration with Biological Data. Add Circuit Storage, unlocking a portable craftable circuit container. Merge Power Boost and Hot Swap into a single skill. Make Modification Access a base innate ability for WX from the start. Let a single lightning rod charge grant multiple power uses for WX. 2. Expand and standardize circuit upgrades Every circuit should have consistent Tier 1 and Tier 2 enhancements for balance. The Spatial Circuit never got upgrades, and several existing upgrades were outright removed in this patch. I assume the devs plan to rework these later so every circuit and every upgrade point feels equally viable. If that happens, most of these nerfs become reasonable and acceptable. 3. Give the Mapper functionality beyond just map exploration Mapping finishes quickly in multiplayer and sometimes isn’t needed at all. Once the whole map is revealed, the Mapper becomes completely useless — it desperately needs an extra permanent function outside exploration. Can we give the Mapper Drone a small world-loading radius? - [Don't Starve Together] Beta Branch - Klei Entertainment Forums 4.Add fun, practical faction skills: WX currently lacks reliable ways to boost damage output, so faction skills should fill this gap. Wortox’s single-point faction ability is very well-designed, and WX’s should be held to that same standard. The circuit slots are already overcrowded, so I don’t want faction skills to be tied to circuits as well. Kacpert25
Really good suggestions. I like most of them. Baark0
it wouldnt be a skill tree without some kind of storage item being locked behind a skill now would it? 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170495-i-can-accept-this-nerf-if-the-rest-of-the-skill-tree-gets-properly-polished/#findComment-1858543 Share on other sites

Maybe that could be considered? Maybe you can scrap the second skill and make it this instead because you can increase the range with rangebooster circuit anyway?
