YouKnowWho142
I've been holding back a lot of my thoughts on WX considering an entire third of their base mechanics were literally not even out yet. Depending on what they could be, it could've had a significant impact on their character, so I didn't really want to say anything about how strong of a character WX is. However, after the gamma circuits dropped along with the circuit nerfs, yeah this is the complete opposite direction of what I really desired and I think a lot of changes should be considered. 1. Most of the nerfed circuits should probably be reverted or at least partially reverted. It's fine if they don't want gastrogain to be 50% reduced hunger drain, but almost everything else was overnerfed especially the hardy and... 2. ... ELECTRIFICATION CIRCUITS. Electrification circuits were quite underpowered to begin with and would have only been super strong with the pre pre nerf hardy circuits, but now its damage effect is almost impossible to make work without stacking the circuits. The burst, which was already extremely situational due to most crowds such as splumonkeys being able to kill WX well before the effect even activated, has even less of a payoff with an equally difficult activate condition that isnt worth using all the beta slots for the extremely niche benefits it had. This honestly almost needed buffs way more than a nerf, especially nerfs this serious. Onto the new gamma circuits... 3. The redigestion circuit I'm pretty much fine with. It's obviously meant to be the early game gamma circuit, so I'm fine with it not having exactly the strongest effect. The only thing I wish for it is that WX eating food that is spoiled and close to rotting could contribute to making nutribricks, even if it is a lesser contribution than rot outright. That would let WX eat spoiling food to utilize their upside and occasionally pop out nutribricks that the team can benefit from, instead of waiting until the food is already spoiled to get any benefit out of the circuit. Also, wet goop should be included. 4. I personally just really dislike the sonic invoker. I don't have a lot of thoughts or suggestions about it, it doesn't feel good or consistent to use at all. I didn't like the similar battle cry that Wigfrid had, so it makes sense this wouldn't do it for me either. Feel free to provide your own suggestions though if you're more passionate about it than me. 5. The blocking circuit isn't completely terrible by itself, but the cooldown is way too long. I think they're afraid to make WX too similar to the battle rond from Wigfrid, since that would likely be the result of reducing its cooldown. It doesn't synergize well with the electrification circuits anymore since their damage is now almost halved (whyyyy). Considering the hardy circuits already provide damage resistance and the beanbooster circuits provide shields, I honestly somewhat think this should just get a new effect or, if they want to make it interesting from a multiplayer perspective without changing it completely, have mob aggro swap from other players/followers to WX if WX uses the blocking circuit just like the battle cry from Wigfrid. 6. The spin-cycle circuit is the circuit with the biggest potential in my opinion. It feels like the late game circuit of the bunch. However, waiting until spring for a slight axe upgrade is not quite good enough to me, and it isn't really good with the maul either since its animations make it difficult to kite (not that any upgrade would ever make me want to use a maul, bleh). The best suggestion I can think of is, instead of requiring specifically an axe to be in your hand, it can give you either a new slot (similar to the space circuit) or simply use a weapon in your inventory. Then, when you swing your main weapon or tool, it will swing the weapon or tool in your inventory 2-3 (maybe more, maybe less) times independently of WX before going on a brief cooldown, almost like a second weapon that occasionally swings itself. This would help WX have something unique in fights while maintaining the original resource gathering niche it has. It would be cool to experiment with a second weapon, whether it'd be something like occasional bat bat/maul healing or thulecite club tentacles alongside your primary weapon. Otherwise, if they don't want it to be a dps circuit, at least let other tools be affected by the circuit such as the pickaxe or hammer or brightshade smasher, it would be a nice start. In general, I hope we can see just a few more gamma circuits, maybe 2 or 3 more, and to have at least some of these suggestions considered especially the spin cycle and electrification circuits. WX is a character I really want to like, but they already have so many things working against them compared to other characters (low damage statstick isn't exactly exciting, 600 hp doesn't mean a lot when you do Wilson level damage against most bosses) and nerfing the circuits across the board while adding fairly disappointing gamma circuits isn't quite doing it for me. Maybe I have to wait for the affinities, though. Also, it goes without saying to not be too harsh to Klei about this, this beta came out extremely early and they're testing the waters on a lot of these changes. The gamma circuits are literally 2-3 hours old. I am sure there will be changes, so I shall wait and see. There's so much doomposting right now and it's honestly pretty draining. Evelo
I expect gamma circuits to also include the Lunar/Shadow stuff that I assume, knowing Klei, will be circuits themselves. I don't particularly care for the Blocking or Sonic Circuit since they seem to require the mouse instead of just the Keyboard so gets a major negative for accessibility. The Spin-cycle is cute. Weird it doesn't do AoE be it damage or chopping. Feel like it will eventually. The Redigestion is my favorite, just wish the Nutribrick did something. (Unless it is meant to do nothing for WX in which case I won't be using any gamma circuits except the Spin-cycle I guess) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170429-this-recent-update-some-concerns-and-suggestions/#findComment-1857533 Share on other sites

That's why they made the item wetness change Edited April 3 by YouKnowWho142 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170429-this-recent-update-some-concerns-and-suggestions/#findComment-1857535 Share on other sites

For something you can produce practically for free, it's incredibly potent as a fire fuel (a single one will instantly bring a firepit to max size) and, in a pinch, you can have it laying around as emergency food. I wish it included nutrient types besides compost so I could give it points for being fertilizer too, but right now it's better to just use the rot. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170429-this-recent-update-some-concerns-and-suggestions/#findComment-1857537 Share on other sites

Kvetevk
I think that the nutribricks should also feed animals, mostly birds and fish. This would make it more valuable, turning rot into eggs/random seeds or attracting fish. (would make wx78 be a better zoo keeper because he can feed his subjects) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170429-this-recent-update-some-concerns-and-suggestions/#findComment-1857589 Share on other sites

Kvetevk
1 minute ago, gaymime said: they canonically hate all organics(except potatoes), why would they want to feed any of 'em? True, but in wx78 trailer you can see that they have animals in cages, they had to feed them somehow. In gameplay it would function as a bait but also as a food for (almost all) animals, making it easier for transporting animals, capturing them and making birds in a cage drop egg/seed/poop Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170429-this-recent-update-some-concerns-and-suggestions/#findComment-1857606 Share on other sites

-Nick-
2 hours ago, YouKnowWho142 said: -snip- Honestly you hit the nail on the head with my current thoughts about this patch! Though I think the spin-cycle could be like a diet weather pain for WX-78! You turning into a spinning bey blade with maybe slippery controls. Aoe chop trees around you and being able to move during it solves the kiting issue. Potential downsides is that maybe you get temporally stunned if you get hit during it or stunned upon hitting objects that are not hack-ables.
