iamzachhunter
The Hot Polluted Oxygen Vent and Slimy Polluted Oxygen Vent are both intriguing vents to tame, as they involve using deodorizers, gas cooling, and germ-killing methods to process their output into breathable oxygen for a colony. Unfortunately, they are largely a waste of time due to their extremely low output. The calculated average output of polluted oxygen from these geysers ranges from about 46.7 g/s to 186.7 g/s, depending on the strength of the geyser. This is a negligible amount of oxygen, not even enough to support two duplicants. As a result, taming these vents is rarely worth the player’s time, which is disappointing and unnecessary. If the developers were to significantly increase their output, perhaps to somewhere between 500 g/s and 1,000 g/s, taming these vents could become both fun and genuinely useful, capable of supporting 5-10 duplicants for all their oxygen needs. Even with such changes, SPOM designs would still remain the superior and most scalable source of oxygen, especially for large colonies. However, a buffed polluted oxygen vent would give players a competitive alternative source of oxygen that would be ideal for smaller colonies or as a supplement for larger ones. And on asteroids where water-based geysers and vents are not available, PO2 Vents might be the saving grace. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169803-buff-po2-vents/ Share on other sites
meekay
I pipe the output to a puft ranch, where it becomes slime and then pWater and algae. My puft ranch design includes uranium ore doors and a buddy bud to kill/suppress germs. The hot variant lets me generate some power.
