Boomerangs are post-alchemy engine, and blow darts are rather grindy to obtain due to the seasonal feathers. it's likely new players will gravitate more towards the spear or bow due to the marshes being quite difficult to early players.

 

or is it just me who is negatively rubbed by the swamp because a tentacle jumpscare me.

you can get an alchemy engine on day 1 or 2...

so just dont fight? dst is never design around range combat
