The Wiki doesn't say anything about this.  I died the first time around, so after another 8 hours of playing to get to this point, I arrived with a pre-crafted Endothermic Fire Pit *and* Endothermic Fire.  I've played DS for 400 hours and DST for 2,500, but I don't seem to see how to craft a Pretty Parasol.  Standing under a tree, my temperature is still 71 degrees.

These are the mods I'm using.  I don't think anything is too outlandish:

I don't think Wendy normally overheats more than other characters (Woody does).

Any ideas what's going on?  Or tips?  I completed Adventure Mode once before, I think with the same mods, but I was probably playing as Wilson or Wickerbottom.

I died.  You can see the endothermic fire pit I put down at the start.  Then there's a tree stump in the center of the flower-pattern of exploration in the center-bottom-left of the map, then I just started running and eating carrots and petals for the 1 point of healing to get a little farther.  My temperature in the open rapidly rose to 90 degrees.  Is Paradise normally 90 degrees?  Because that's why my temperature rose to.

I asked ChatGPT and it said it was my "playstyle" that I was unwilling to push through a little heat damage.

Yeah, it's 75 degrees in the shade of a tree, 90 outside the shade.  I've never seen this before.

Oh, I made my game-save compatable with Shipwrecked, which doesn't have the Pretty Parisol.  Is that why I can't craft it?  Can I change that?  Dying at 72 degrees takes a lot longer than dying at 90.

Yeah, this is a bug when you choose Save Compatibility with SW (Shipwrecked) or probably with Hamlet.  The rest of the game works normally with these save compatabilities, although a few crafting recipes are changed, removing the Pretty Parasol (except for Wagstaff) and adding the Endothermic Fire and Ice Cube.  If you choose a Save Compatibility, you need to enter this level with a thermal stone and a pre-crafted Endothermic Fire, or maybe an Ice Cube, but I'm pretty sure Adventure Mode isn't intended to work that way, especially for an area called, "Paradise."

Confirmed.  I used the same mods, but with Willow (so she wouldn't incinerate on this level) and the ambient temperature is 32 degrees, while wearing the Tam O' Shanter.  No wildfires.  No overheating.  The only difference is I didn't pick a "Save Compatability".  Well, and I used Willow.  I notice there are different crafting recipes.  Alchemy Engine doesn't require Electrical Doodads.  There's no Endothermic Fire or Ice Cube.  I've updated the Wiki (.gg version), but I think it's a bug.  I understand if this is a "wont-fix" due to legacy.  It's still a great game.  My favorite of all time.  Thank you.

Well, Wendy is now shackled to Maxwell's throne.  This is a really fun game.  Thanks for making it!

Spoiler

The final level was beaten thanks to a Froggle Bunwitch stationScreenshotfrom2026-01-0911-08-32.png.e9e89dc302e60440d6d1bab2fa32c86f.png in the starting swamp.  I never thought much of that sandwich, but when the most plentiful non-monster meat items to eat are frog legs and blue mushrooms, it keeps for 15 days and does a somewhat even job of restoring hunger, health, and sanity.  Here's Wendy on heading out of home base for the last time.  You can see she has gears from killing the bishops and just returned for food.  She'll pick up the "Things" from her drop points along the way back to the Teleportato.  At each level, she took the Walking Cane, Tam o' Shanter, Miner Helmet, and a fresh Football Helmet.  Hamming pigs heads in swamps is OP.  Getting the hounds teeth for a sewing kit for the Tam was tricky, but I managed.

Playing Shipwrecked allowed me to make Surf 'n' Turf which felt a little like cheating, but I could have roasted the blue mushrooms for sanity and that would have worked.  Or sleeping more.  I don't know if that level always has a ring of blue mushrooms, but it sure was helpful!

I died horribly as Willow.  Kept burning my base and especially crock pots.  But I tried to base at the pig village and make Jerky, which was a mistake.

Phew!  What a fun challenge!
