You're missing my point. I asked if they changed the task condition from "Player put the items on her drying racks to dry" into "Pearl needs to wait until items dry and harvest them all" for the task to be counted. If they didn't change the condition then eating the kelp won't matter, the task should count regardless even if kelp stays intact. If by making her not eat the kelp they also changed how this task works and now regardless of what we put on racks we need to actually see her harvest ad eat the contents of it, that's super lame.

Before this update neither of her tasks actually were tied to her eating/harvesting habits. Berry bushes always counted - it didn't matter if they had no berries on them or she got to eat them at all. Just the fact of planted and fertilized berry bushes was the thing that completed the task and earned the friendship point. Same thing was always with the drying rack - they counted regardless of Pearl's ability to enjoy the dried produce.

Still lame. They didn't need to change the requirement since she never actually ate those items for the task to count.
They could have made it so we could both dry kelp for her for the task and that she doesn't harvest it.

it says "as well now" not "has to be meat" therefor kelp sould keep workin and no reason it cant work anymore

i've watched a fair few people play dst and i have not actually seen -anyone- refrain from wanting to use her stuff at least once(and most players do in fact think they deserve free access to pearl's stuff). making it consistent and understandable to players who are not terminally online and are not veteran players is a good thing. please consider stepping back from your place as someone who has been here for years and years so that you might be able to recognise that the bulk of players are not going to have your experiences and your notions of what ought to be.

right now the pre & post rift pearl habits are matched to each other. for someone coming in fresh to both there is no inconsistency because she behaves the same way for both and if the person coming in fresh is not upset with pearl eating their dried goods off of her expanded racks then their experience will be better than someone whose dried goods are eaten regardless of if they saw her eating dried kelp the first time they met her( please refer to the forum when people saw that she was doing that)

 

of course i do understand that this is an issue because it is now slightly harder to fulfil one friend-task and that is somewhat inconvenient so i don't think my words are going to be very comforting.

which is fair to think but it makes sense for the future. 

i think it works better to think of it like blue amulets and red amulets. it becomes a weird legacy thing that is incongruous the further "today" is from when it made sense to do it that way. right now a lot of people did it this way but in a year or four or eight it wont make sense that she eats kelp when she asks for meat and her racks wont be worth using if she eats everything off of them when they are not carefully tended to(or locked up)

I've also slayed all the mutants. I've basically done everything in the game except the Scion fight, but from my understanding doing the Scion fight shouldn't be necessary for the combriner.

Can you send a .zip file of your world? Maybe we gonna need a bug report...

I have seen some folks after the update got the 2nd Pearl's Pearl from Pearl (triple Pearl combo) and they had to beat Pearl-ed Crab King again, and giving cracked Pearl then did unlock the combriner (or they just spawned a new cracked Pearl with command). But this case seems different

I think it's the same. My Pearl must have drowned at some point and reset her quests, which kinda sucks since I didn't want to fight Crab King all over. I settled for just consoling a new cracked pearl in to give to her again and unlocked it. Appreciate the offer though, thank you!
