My English isn’t very good, so I used machine translation. Regarding the current version of Crystal-Crested Buzzards, the issues are:

  1. Their damage is way too exaggerated.

  2. Their numbers are way too high.

  3. They respawn far too quickly.

It only takes three of them to take down a Dragonfly, and up to ten can appear at the same time. On top of that, a few days after dealing with them, they come back again. When I saw that the test server not only didn’t nerf them but even further strengthened them, I found it unbelievable.

My friends and I enjoy playing this game with six people. If even one person forgets to deal with the frequently respawning buzzards, they can easily destroy your base, making it impossible to continue the game. The only workaround is to turn them off in the settings. But it feels wrong if a potentially interesting new content feature is designed only to be turned off—it undermines the credibility of the design.

I think it should be modified as follows:

  1. The behavior in the test server of almost completely consuming loot can be retained, but the damage and numbers of buzzards must be greatly reduced, and the time it takes for them to consume a corpse should be extended. In the current version, players have almost no chance to fight buzzards. The numbers and stats are already absurd in actual gameplay. Not every player is a game expert, and it’s unreasonable for buzzards—meant to be minor enemies rather than bosses—to deal such high damage.

  2. Provide some loot. It doesn’t need to be valuable; even items that restore a small amount of status are very useful.

  3. Add a fear mechanic. In reality, buzzards are scavengers with low aggression. They should avoid landing when there are too many non-moon creatures nearby. Currently, in-game, they often appear in already chaotic battles, and the exaggerated design where buzzards can kill all creatures on the battlefield is really boring.

It's kinda funny to remember that we're actually dealing with the nerfed version of the buzzards. The original ones were even stronger than what we're dealing with in this beta.

I do agree that their concept is cool, but yeah... Klei probably needs to do more fiddling with their numbers.

The loot dropped by the mutated vulture is too perfunctory and useless, and its ultra-long-duration moonfire attack increases the difficulty of killing it. I suggest adding items like Pure Radiance to its drops to match its difficulty!

After the recent changes to the mutated vulture, it poses an even greater threat to players. Similar to the hellhound attacks, there should be advance warnings of its raids in the upcoming update. Reminding players through character dialogue is also a good approach!
