Not the same, but similar in effect. GimplyGoose
I feel like there are two opposing sentiments here. 1. All characters should be able to interact with game mechanics. 2. The game experience should be different when using different characters. The extreme on 1. would be a character that couldn't interact with the game at all. Just spawns in and can't move, eat, take damage, etc. Obviously wouldn't be very fun. The extreme on 2. would be if every character played exactly the same at which point what is the point of having different characters at all. Personally, I think a meat based crockpot dish would be a fine compromise to allow Warly/Wigfrid to interact with the nightberry, but I can see the slippery slope that is feared where the differences between characters are minimized and they end up homogenized. Maybe there is a better solution, but I'm not creative enough to think of one. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168638-please-add-a-meat-base-crockpot-dish-base-on-the-night-berry/page/2/#findComment-1841998 Share on other sites

Maybe there is a better solution, but I'm not creative enough to think of one. I agree that a meat based crockpot dish would be a very nice compromise. Not wanting every character homogenized is a fine point, but it would be nice if everybody could benefit from special food. Like every character can use spiced food, and voltgoat jelly (even though there are horns in the jelly, Wurt is still cool with it, but she won't eat bone bouillon). The only Warly dish that gives more than just food value, which Wurt can't eat, is fish cordon bleu, but she also really doesn't need it. Wigfrid can't eat asparagazpacho and hot dragon chili salad, which are pretty amazing temperature regulators, and she can't eat the glowberry mousse. One could argue that this is just the price of being Wigfrid, but I feel if an exception can be made for voltgoat jelly, then we could have one for nightberries aswell. You don't even have to make it meat based, and just declare the new dish a goodie. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168638-please-add-a-meat-base-crockpot-dish-base-on-the-night-berry/page/2/#findComment-1842006 Share on other sites
viblym
Honestly with how far out of your way you have to go to get nightberries, especially with them being an... unnecessary luxury? (in my opinion) It's strange that it's completely inaccessible for two characters. On stream they said that they would not add an alternative since that's part of "the character's downside", like Warly doesn't have Glow Berry Mousse and they didn't add meated-nettles in Hamlet so Wigfrid was actually playable. You'd think they'd want the downsides to be reserved for more actually impactful things, like staple food sources, and not an item you have to go to a relatively larger effort to access, only for it to have zero value whatsoever for the character you're playing. Like if you go treasure hunting for Sproutrocks 50% of those are going to be an item you can't even use. It's not significant enough to detriment you in a realistic way, you're just kind of excluded because eh. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168638-please-add-a-meat-base-crockpot-dish-base-on-the-night-berry/page/2/#findComment-1842028 Share on other sites

Warly's inaccessibility appears to be temporary. It's highly anticipated that Warly will have new recipes with special effects. And night vision is the easiest to implement. Players of other characters (including Wigfrid) are simply waiting for the devs to continue treating Warly as a portal character by freely sharing his recipes.
