People tend to hate when sequels take away features*. (Adventure mode and teleportato are missing.) You can't say the Animal Crossing series is all re-releases from Gamecube to Switch because they reuse 99.9% of the villagers and items each game, while adding more stuff, and having no plot. Future games are expected to build on existing content. Klei has replaced graphics with HD, reworked characters, overhauled farming, reviving, sailing, armor, DFly (we know your opinion), added many more mobs, items, lunar content, seasonal events, rifts, skill trees, world regrowth, etc. There's more content added to DST at this point than it re-used. It doesn't even play the same due to dramatic shifts in balance. *Personally, I'm irritated that the magic system has been slowly getting stripped away in The Elder Scrolls. Oblivion took away levitation. Skyrim took away custom spells completely. 14 hours ago, Hungry French said: Lazy Deserter ( BOSS ITEM LOL ) 14 hours ago, Hungry French said: So let's not throw concepts around. The sequel in the gaming industry is generally recognized as continuing not only the plot of the original game, but also as a unique IP without re-use. I think this creates a contradiction. For example, Final Fantasy is a (very) long-running series with many games. Each one re-uses most of the same monsters and spells. Some of the games have unrelated plots. Others are considered sequels. Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off (and Bravely Default?). Under your definitions, sequels do not actually exist, because you'd try to slot them into spin-off, re-release, or standalone DLC instead. There is only additional content in the DST. As it is, it's basically a copy of the DS. Imagine that the DLC for Isaac is sold only as a separate purchase of a separate game. That's what DST is doing. Only DLS are free. Animal Crossing ? Although there was a complete change of graphics, not HD textures that can be added to the DS... The DS and DST are on the same engine... DST came out because Klei didn't want single players to pay for multiplayer. ( What's the point if they abandoned DS Alone lol ) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168511-could-wheeler-become-a-new-character/page/2/#findComment-1842016 Share on other sites

Morrowind, Fallout 3, Skyrim, etc., all use the Gamebryo engine and similar construction kits for modding. However, trying to load a .esp (mod) file from a different game won't work. The other code is too different internally. Trying to use a DS .lua script in DST is likely to cause crashes due to internal changes (functions, networked data, components, stategraphs, brains). They aren't compatible anymore. DS doesn't understand that there isn't only one player walking around loading areas and doing stuff, and that's not even the half of it. Tropical Experience mod couldn't just lazily drop Shipwrecked and Hamlet code into DST (there's 6 separate developers listed on the Steam page). В Morrowind, Fallout 3, Skyrim и т. д. The problem is that the DST code is tailored for multiplayer. We don't have a single player mode... If they are to add Wheeler, she would probably be completely different also.
