That's the thing, though. DS and DLCs never required this. Knowledge and preparation were the only requirements to thrive in Don't Starve. Mechanical skill would always give an extra edge as it meant better utilization of resources and time, but wasn't ever a requirement.

Aaaah, got it~

Yeah, I agree that bosses only needing knowledge and preparation is nice. It's why I always say that Dragonfly is my favorite boss... Really easy to cheese for rewards, but also a pretty fun fight if you wanna actually fight it properly.

I wish modern boss design was more like that, giving you more leeway to use cheeses for easy rewards/progression, but also posing a fun challenge if you tried actually fighting it.

DS and DST are also very different games. DST has multiplayer and needs to crack down on global consequence for player actions as a result, DS has a much bigger focus on survival with much weaker characters, DST has a focus on boss fights and progression with much more powerful and combat oriented characters, and so on. If your complaint is that they have different focuses, then I doubt the devs would change that now considering how deep the game is into that path.

And yet Klei is perfectly capable of taking opinions and making adjustments. This is how we got reworked Crab King fight. This is how Toadstool was separated from Misery Toadstool.

Most of the worst updates of the past 10 years were within this past year, starting with Depths of Duplicity. DST did always trivialize death, yes, but that update was around the time where it felt like they really balanced gameplay around it.

.... making the game easier.

And now let's remember the huge hole in the balance of the game, which makes any mod look not so strong. Lol. Look at any Klei ambassador, they love cheese and unbalanced meta. So the hp bar won't change anything.

DST is not about bosses. At least I don't understand why Klei makes such bad bosses. And they don't improve on the old ones. In UM, bosses are not bad.

Bro... The game already has a console. All bosses must be killed as a Warbot. No cheats, no cheese, no absences. Just a fair fight... Dragonfly is one of the worst bosses in the game. After John Toadstool, of course, where you're incredibly happy to kill the AFK boss for 16 minutes for Wilson. Mmmm. Perfect. Maybe a boss with a 16 minute battle will have something more than 4 attacks, ahhahaha. Seriously. The boss is 16 minutes long and has 4 attacks... Not to mention the 30-second music. Klei didn't even try.
The best boss right now is Warbot, Scion, Antlion and Daywalker. You can even brag about Warbot in other games.

A boss that can only make 1 attack and spawn mobs... hmm... Even the old bosses on Sega were usually better and more interesting.
