Hi! If anyone is interested in this- I feel like quite a few people have thought about this idea that- what if we could use different materials for Figure Sketches. However, I have a few issues-

(1) I cant code so I am not able to implement it at all (However I think it might be simple enough for literally anyone else)

and

(2) I am having a hard time finding assets in the game to be able to make clean recolors for. For example- Deerclops's Statue has an Outline of the art, then is colored in with white to make marble- then recolored for Cut stone- then Recolored for Glass, making it see through, AND recolors the outline from black to a more darker teal.

The one thing i can do is the coloring and putting the details in the right spots for different materials but for the life of me I cant find a way to either take the color out of the outlines or find it on my own.

If anyone has any ideas/help they are willing to give me to help make a mod or have any ideas for materials to make the sculptures out of- I think whilst it would be a simple addition- could give people tons of ideas with new and improved layouts for their base creativity.

So far I have the selected resources in mind-

Gold

Moon Rock

Thulecite Fragments

Ill be trying to work on this until its done but for now im a little stumped- Also that for every resource- I would have to recolor every single Figure Sketch in the game (and future if I decide to continue updating it which I hopefully will)

Anyways! thanks for reading and im going to go relax for a bit, bye bye!

So upon looking further- I might need to make an outline for every single one of the figures since there is no outline I can take properly-

So I will be trying to do that-

If anyone has a better way or has ways to implement the figures into the game let me know since thats my current walls

image.png.5de0fdb8b6f2dfced285d5aad250ac5b.pngI think I did REALLY good working on itMarble

It doesn't have the exact shading as the prior one but i feel like this is close enough to the original to truly be something

EXCITING!!

I was able to add the 3 resources (gold, moon rock, thulecite fragments) into the pottery table's accepted items, only thing is they're invisible when placed so I need to fix that real quick

I have been able to make the Gold statues for Deerclops, Moose Goose, Bearger, and Dragon Fly

Its a bit annoying to do constantly but if youd like we could try to talk about doing more stuff if you want.

Ok so unfortunately I'm currently unable to make the actual sprite for the gold/moon rock/thulecite to show up on the potter's wheel, I don't fully understand how it works yet :(

This is what I currently have so far though:

SculptMaterials.zip

Again, it does successfully take the item, but trying to craft with it with make an invisible statue since there's no sprite for it yet.

Also are you able to simply hue shift or mess with the color settings for the statues? I'm not sure how well that would look since I rarely use those but you could probably try it out

I can make the sprite! But I also dont know how to make/implement mods so when I look at the script I cant read it because I still have this wall that makes coding incomprehensible to me xD

ive tried lots of different things and all of them were kinda sucky ish-

Changing the Hue kinda works by just making them Yellow-ish

But the way I can do it i can make it the Solid Outline Color (Black) and the Inside Yellow with white spots to indicate gold shine?

i didnt do it in the on above but here are a few I have done and turned them gold

These ones I feel look Significantly better and all I have to do is redo the shading for all 42 sculptures and then essentially recolor them till they look nice.

If you want we could try to work on this for longer if you have time for some silly DST mod fun

Those look really nice! And sure I'm fine with helping (to the best of my ability), I will give a fair warning though I'm new to this and still trying to learn lua. Adding the statues should (hopefully) be fairly easy though :)

Hi, I was reading the conversation and I don't think it's necessary to color all the prefabs. Honestly, I didn't understand what you were trying to do, but if you want to change the color of existing statues, it can be done more easily with code. If that's what you were looking for, let me know and I'll tell you how to do it.

So my problem is that I am trying to make unique materials for statues in DST

The problem is that in the game we have marble, Cut Stone, and Moon Glass as the different figures.

The problem is not that I cant recolor the Marble statue into a different color- its that I want it to be as close to the material as possible.

Gold has a white glint and a shine/sparkle

So instead of coloring something yellow and calling it gold (Which might also recolor the black outline im not sure) I can go back and make my own outlines so that in the future if i want to make something like Moonrock which has a more marbled texture I could do so with the pre-existing assets I make.

I tried to get the Outlines but the Files dont have just the Outlines of the Figures and Klei said they arent allowed to give me that kind of information- so I am doing it from scratch.

I made this with the White Shine and I feel like it fits super well (The old image didnt have the shine and that might be where the confusion came up)

i mean, it sucks but you did a good job evvven the same. i can believe this is a golden statue!

Im going to try and make all 42 statues

The hard part is me making all the figures transparent

After that its mostly recolors

Its definitely not easy to get the level of detail I wanted for the figures but I hope people will like it xD

I did manage to get it to mostly work; along with the pottery table being able to accept the 3 new items, you can now craft the sculptures themselves, carry them, etc. just fine

Issue now is the sprites not showing up, I'm 99% sure it's a coding issue and not Spriter - I used the already existing code for sculptures and table, I'm just not sure how to incorporate the new materials into the code that makes the sprite show up (And I'm a little scared to touch it)
