A.P.Erson
I had this idea for a new structure that would help deal with the late game issue of having several low durability items lying around and having no idea what to do with them while also giving middle game tools more use in the later stages and post rift. My main vision for it is to be an anvil made out of cut stone (despite that being a very suboptimal material for an anvil), however it can be upgraded with different materials at different stages of the game. The anvil's UI consists of two inventory slots requesting either a tool or a weapon. If you put those tools into it and then interact with the anvil, it will do a little hammer animation and then let you pick the same tool combined. At base level, it will only combine the durability of both tools/weapons, but as you progress into the game it will give bonus durability beyond the combined percentage of what was given, and can even allow the percent to go above 100%. The base anvil can only upgrade flint or stone based tools such as basic pickaxes and axes, hammers, spears, but you swap out the base anvil head for new ones made out of better materials that will allow you to work on better and stronger materials, including: Gold : Gold tools and battle spears Marble : Stronger pre-magic melee weapons such as tentacle spikes (Hambat is not included) Thulecite : Pre-Rift magic and thulecite gear such as dark swords and thulecite gear (Also includes glass cutter) Dreadstone + Pure Horror / Pure Brilliance + Brightshade : Final stage, will allow repairing of any tool that is pre-rift. Post rift items do not need repairs as they already have dedicated repair kits. You can only repair dedicated tools and dedicated weapons, anything that is not under those categories is unrepairable, including magic staves, clothing, amulets, and other tools such as pan flutes and light sources. Depending on the tier of the station, each repair job will give a bonus amount of durability, meaning that the total durability the new tool will have will equal the combined amount of durability of both tools multiplied by a bonus modifier. Here are my suggestions: Stone : No modifier Gold : 1.05x Marble : 1.10x Thulecite : 1.20x Post Rift : 1.25x The thulecite and post rift options will have the added benefit that they can give the tools above the standard 100% durability, but only if the combined total would allow so. The max amount a tool can have over 100% is equal to the bonus modifier, meaning that thulecite can make a tool with 120% while post rift can go to 125%. This only affects durability and will not affect damage. Please let me know if you think of any changes or rebalances.
