gartfarted
After doing some generally boring testing making holes on boats and seeing how long certain items hold their it to determine their weight. (Insane amount of credit to my smart friends for help with the math) a small fry fish weighs 40 units according to the only intended way to weight things in game (U) and plugs a hole for 69 seconds on average, thulecite fragments and nightmare fuel plugs a hole for 76 seconds and 20 seconds respectively, by using |U2 = U1 * Time2 / Time1|we got 44.06 units rounded down to 44 for simplicity for thulecite and 11.59 rounded to 12 for simplicity’s (keep in mind we are doing math with units that don’t exist and assuming that it Time goes up at a linear rate with U) now that we know how much thulecite fragments and nightmare fuel weight we can do a little bit of crafting with our friend walter with one fragment and one nightmare fuel you can craft 20 thulecite rounds each 20 has a weight equal to 56 units a ammo pouch can hold 999 rounds per slot we’ll round to 1000 for you guessed it, simplicity! and it has 6 slots 20/1000=50•56= 2800U per slot times that by each slot 16800 times all 15 inventory slots 252000 plus the krampus sacks 14 slots 235000 so far that’s 487k effective units if you’re on pc you can carry an extra item in your hands that’s 503,800 to put that in real world terms i’ll have to go back to my fish, it was an average fish with an average weight, so well do a carp that weights 4 pounds that means 10 units = a pound giving us a grand total of the average don’t starve survivor being able to carry 50,380 pounds or about 151,140 McChickens. honestly not even half as crazy as i expected but if you guys think of any better routes to make a character be able to pick up more or heavier things i’d love to hear it! 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167592-powerscaling-the-constant-part-2-the-reveal/ Share on other sites
Bellium
Love the various ways people come up with to measure items in games that give you no real way of measuring them. Boat plug time to figure out weight of objects is such a clever work around i love it. Now I'm curious how long dreadstone plugs a hole for (and as such how much it weights). Also I would assume pure horror rounds weigh more, because thulucites thing seemed to be being a lightweight but durable material (compared with horror rounds which use stone) and I'd guess pure horror having more mass compared to nightmare fuel.
