This actually happened on a public server. If you want the full story behind this drawing, I’ve written it all down. Strap in, it’s gonna be a long one.

Yesterday I was a part of the most epic pirate raid in Don’t Starve history. I was playing as Wendy on one of Klei’s public servers, and on a whim I decided to join Wortox going out to sea. Within a minute we’re attacked by pirates and manage to kill all of them. Now our goal has changed from sailing to the lunar island to living out the plot of Muppets Treasure Island. In a couple days we find the Moon Quay Island and go through with the usual, grab all the banana bushes and monkey tail reeds, trade with the queen, etc. But when I’m not paying attention, one of the Powder Monkeys manages to get away with Abigail’s flower.

I could have replaced the flower very easily, but something you would know about me if you’ve ever seen me in game is that I like to get into character as whoever I’m playing. So I’m thinking fully in character, and Wendy would sooner throw herself into the mouth of a Deerclops than she would replace her sister. I yell for help from Wortox and together we burned that island to the ground. What Wendy’s saying in that drawing (that I hopefully attached correctly) is actually something I yelled in the game. It was an absolute massacre. I ended up with 20 accused trinkets by the end of it, but still, no Abigail.

Skipping past some shenanigans about how I got rid of those accursed trinkets, I manage to kill a Prime Mate and yoink his treasure map. The map reveals the pirate’s loot stash on the other side of the map. Is that long trek in the middle of winter worth it just for the sake of a dramatic story? Yes, 100% yes. I reach the spot marked on the map after a day and a half of crossing the continent. Now all I have to do is dig it up, and hopefully Abigail will be down there. But nothing in Don’t Starve comes easy, so of course there’s a tier 3 spider den right on top of where she’s buried. And it just so happens that due to the “shenanigans” mentioned earlier, I lost all my weapons and armor. So I did the only thing I could think of and set fire to the nearby trees to burn the spiders out. And thank goodness I decided not to attack that thing because in the span of 30 seconds that thing turns into a spider queen. I run away through the trees and wait for the fire to do its job. Once everything is clear, I scurry through the burnt trees and dig up the loot stash. Lo and behold, there she is. A little dirty, but safe. Not a petal on her head was harmed.

I ran back home to celebrate the successful rescue mission, and then immediately logged off to draw that epic fight scene.

And that, my friends, was the best pirate raid I’ve ever been a part of. Thank you very much.

Great story, thanks for sharing. I had a similar encounter with the monkeys in one of my Wendy solo worlds. These bastards attacked me during malbatross fight, ended up killing Abigail and stole my beefalo bell, then got away before I could kill the captain to get the map. Beefalo was on the shore parked near where I was fighting Malbatross, and immediately started running away. I had to abandon Malbatross fight and chased the beefalo down to the other side of the map, and he led me directly to the pirate stash location where the bell was buried.

Edit: I found the screenshots and looks like I ended up killing that monkey raid or at least the previous one, judging by the 5 trinkets on me. I vaguely remember that I might have been attacked twice around that malbatross spot, and looks like I defeated him too. But the beefalo bell was stolen during the first encounter and the map to that stash was stolen with it as well.

I wish they could flesh out the pirates more and make them more in depth.

I’d expected Pearl be banishment to Moon Quay would have some narrative significance like interaction between Pearl and the Pirates or the Queen of Moon Quay.
